Director of Finance, FP&A Japan 

The Director of Finance will act as a strategic finance business partner to the President of Japan and partner with key leaders on the Japan Leadership Team. This role will report to the Senior Director of Finance – JAPAC. The Director will be responsible for all FP&A support for the Japan Enterprise, Field and Digital organisations across Adobe’s offerings for the Digital Experience and the Creative and Document Cloud businesses.  

 

As a key member of the Japan Leadership Team, you will play a pivotal role in providing insights into the business and offer recommendations that will drive growth across a complex product landscape. This role partners with Finance and Sales GTM leaders and has the ability to influence senior and executive management decisions, inspire change, and challenge status quo as Adobe continues to scale for growth.  Understanding the business, the forecasts and providing insight on this to Sales and Finance leadership is essential for success in this role. Driving top-line growth whilst maintaining effective Headcount and Opex management and reporting processes makes this role both a challenging and rewarding growth opportunity for an FP&A leader. 

 

What you’ll do: 

  • Provide financial partnership to the Japan President and leadership teams across the Digital Media and Digital Experience businesses. 

  • Lead and develop a team of finance professionals in Japan - leading and mentoring a team of finance professionals ensuring the team's goals, objectives and projects are met with quality, excellence and on time. 

  • Work with Japan leaders to deliver critical business analysis, as well as defining and reporting significant financial and operational metrics that lead to insightful & impactful business decision-making. 

  • Own Weekly, Quarterly and Annual Strategic and Corporate bookings and attrition/retention planning, forecasting and reporting as well as management of Opex, FTE and investments for the whole Japan business.  

  • Understand and communicate plan and forecast variances, risks, and opportunities through effective story telling. 

  • Play a major role in the annual strategic and operating planning processes, quarterly business reviews, strategy reviews and deep dives.  

  • Lead discussions about budget prioritization, ROI maximization, and GTM strategy. 

  • Partner with the local and global finance teams, for bookings, expense forecasting, and financial reporting. 

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to drive financial performance and support business initiatives. 

  • Represent Japan on regional or global projects as required and participates in global finance team meetings 

  • Be the ‘face of Finance’ in the region and be the interface for global Finance functions including Credit, Tax, Accounting and Compliance.  

 
What you need to succeed 

  • 10+ Years FP&A experience (software industry and/or Sales Finance related a plus) 

  • Business Proficiency in Japanese and English language communication both written and verbal 

  • Excellent communication skills and partnership skills, ability to handle multiple projects and partners 

  • In depth knowledge/understanding of accounting and financial systems; SAP, Business Warehouse, TM1, and Tableau 

  • Able to translate data into a story, explaining quarterly variances, risks, and opportunities. 

  • Analytical and creative problem solver who challenges the status quo. 

  • Self-starter with an inquisitive mind, eager to design recommendations. 

  • Comfortable in a fluid environment that changes as the business evolves. 

  • Proven data modelling/analytical skills 

  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and ability to take charge, set objectives, work toward results; team oriented 

  • BS in Accounting or Finance Preferred

  • MBA or Advanced Degree Preferred
