Introduction
IBM Research Scientists are charting the future of Artificial Intelligence, creating breakthroughs in quantum computing, discovering how blockchain will reshape the enterprise, and much more. Join a team that is dedicated to applying science to some of today's most complex challenges, whether it’s discovering a new way for doctors to help patients, teaming with environmentalists to clean up our waterways or enabling retailers to personalize customer service.

Your Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for talented designers to join the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY, to contribute to the development of advanced high-performance quantum circuits and exploratory technologies.

We focus on circuit designs that enable the creation of differentiated control and readout solutions for a range of Quantum devices. Key areas of circuit design interest include analog, mixed-signal, and custom digital integrated circuit design applied to problems in data communications, wireless, or data conversion arenas. Because the work will involve exploratory technologies, it requires a deep understanding of the interaction between circuits and devices. Experience in circuit design in exploratory technologies, such as superconducting circuits, is desirable (but not required), as is experience in high-speed integrated circuit test. The candidate should have strong hands-on lab skills. A track record of completing complex integrated circuit designs demonstrating innovative elements is also desirable.

We are looking for a team player with strong writing and presentation skills, able to create and communicate technical ideas, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team. This job will entail driving the development of new intellectual property. The candidate should have experience with relevant development tools, including Cadence and possibly Mentor, ADS, HFSS, and other industry standard tools.

The candidate must be able to work successfully with a diverse and dynamic team of both operational and technical personnel, collaborate with team members, work independently, and take own initiative.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Must have excellent people skills, sound judgment, flexibility, and work well in fast paced research environment
• At least 2 years’ experience in AMS circuit design, simulation and modeling
• Mastery of some circuit design, layout and simulations tools e., Cadence/Clarity tools, Keysight ADS, EMPro tools, Ansys HFSS, Mentor tools, Solidworks, COMSOL, Inductex, …
• Familiarity with a variety of test equipment, such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, data generators, power meters and frequency synthesizers.
• Good understanding of Quantum device control and cryogenic circuit design and performance.
• Fluent in English language

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• At least 4 years experience in analog and/or mixed-signal design and development
• Ph.D. in electrical engineering
