General Information:
A Quality and Continuous Improvement (Q&CI) Specialist Professional is a recognized subject matter expert in the Quality and CI area. This individual will also integrate the Quality and Continuous Improvement (Lean and 6 Sigma) methodologies and activities within the assigned functional department and will serve as a generator and coordinator of ideas for improvements, and implementation strategies.  Will ensure that timely and effective results of the process improvements are accomplished. In addition, will provide daily support to the functional teams in other process and product quality matters, along with the coordination of the resources required to plan, train, and implement quality and effective efficiency and productivity improvements.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Voice of Customer
  • Represents the Voice of the Customer within local team. Ensures that customer feedback processes are used, customer feedback evaluated and presented to and used by local teams. Challenges the teams with customer experience feedback and input to decisions. Enables and coaches’ employees to evaluate risks, problems, and solutions from a customer/stakeholder point of view.
  • Quality Assurance & compliance: Works within local teams/organization to apply appropriate methods to prevent mistakes and defects in products and avoid problems when delivering solutions or services to customers. Provides confidence that customer and stakeholder needs/expectations will be fulfilled. Drives the utilization of process management across own organization. Drives quality assurance and built-in quality of deliveries. Ensures that the quality assurance process steps are documented in the IMS to deliver consistent results, minimizing variation, and maximizing efficiencies. Performs audits and uses Quality data analytics from all parts of the operation to identify risks, failures and nonconformances within the local operations, its suppliers, and customers.
  • Quality Control: Assists in and drives the implementation of effective internal controls to verify that processes will meet customer and stakeholder requirements. Validates that control plans are applied and effective in mitigating known risks. Verifies the local organization has the necessary hardware and software capability to assure that products and systems meet specified requirements. Consults with engineering staff to develop test protocols as necessary to investigate the integrity of new products, or new functionality for existing products.
  • Quality & CI Governance: Leads the local teams in the application of process management, serving operational and business needs. Ensures that processes are continually evaluated for effectiveness. Ensure that quality & CI processes are implemented. Drives and supports local organization to analyze performance, assure compliance and continuously improve to ensure an efficient Quality Management System.
  • Continuous Improvement Deployment: Uses continuous improvement, L6S and other CI methodologies to ensure the successful deployment of the functional business strategy. Facilitate best practice sharing within the functional organization. Provides organization-wide visibility of the current portfolio of continuous improvement efforts; track via metrics / KPIs progress and value from these efforts.
  • People Leadership and Development : Provides quality coaching and training to functional (Engineering) teams enabling them to define and document processes that are efficient and under control. Provide support and leadership for the Quality activities that support the functional teams.
  • Change Management: Promotes and supports behavioral change to continuously improve function performance through programs and initiatives. Contribute to identifying and escalating barriers to change.
  • Safety : Ensure that HSE impact is a critical element driving selection of CI Projects. Support and drive the risk assessment of newly introduced processes to minimize the HSE impact. Promote a HSE culture across the CI community, act as a role model. Your Background:

  • Completion of University degree in Engineering (preferably in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering).
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Experience in Quality management and continuous Improvement.
  • Experience facilitating dozens of successful Root Cause and Failure Analysis
  • Experience in Quality tools, Continuous Improvement Lean and Six Sigma (L6S) initiatives and projects.
  • Experience with: FMECA’s, recommendations associated with preventing most probable Failure Modes, Production loss analysis, failure mitigation strategies, Spare Parts optimization supporting the PM tasks, etc.
  • Problem-solving- diagnose and resolve problems with assets.
  • Certified L6S Green or Black Belt is considered an asset.
  • Certified as CAPM or PMP is considered an asset.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English, effective presentation skills and ability to communicate well at all levels.
  • Experience using ERP or SAP systems.
  • Willing to travel to sites up to 25-30% to learn and share knowledge with other NAM sites.
  • Analytical skills with high level of accuracy and strong work ethics.
  • Attention to detail for identifying any minor or potential issues, particularly in a root cause or FMEA analysis.
  • Communication and collaboration working alongside project engineers, Project teams and third party, internal and external suppliers as needed.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues to enhance team’s productivity and efficiency.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
