Industrial Researcher in Software Systems

We are looking for a passionate and proficient scientist with expertise in software design at our research center in Baden/Switzerland. In an interdisciplinary environment, you will drive cutting-edge innovation for different complex systems in power grid applications. Join our dynamic, motivated, and creative team to contribute to a sustainable energy future for all.

Your responsibilities

• You make a difference: Conduct high-quality industrial research in the area of software for sustainable power grids with focus on software architecture and distributed systems.

• You innovate: Design innovative approaches to automate the power grid, turn them into prototypes, and increase the technology readiness level towards productization.

• You take initiative: Collaborate with a global and inter-disciplinary team of researchers and engineers in Hitachi Energy Research and Business Units to identify and solve real-world problems and realize opportunities for further improvements.

• You connect: Build relationships within the company and actively share your knowledge and expertise. Interact with local and global external partners including universities, start-ups, and vendors.

• You communicate: Disseminate your results in scientific publications, patent applications, and technical reports.

Your background

• PhD in computer science, software engineering or a related technical field.

• Track record in applying software engineering principles to complex systems, e.g. embedded systems, real-time systems, and / or Internet of Things (edge computing, cloud computing).

• Know-how of distributed systems, performance engineering, AI/ML for software engineering, and / or power grid automation applications is a plus.

• Excellent communication skills, team player attitude, initiative, and creativity.

• Fluency in English (written and spoken).
