Job Description

We are seeking an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Optimization Specialist with the business and technical acumen to collaborate across multiple business owners, in order to drive successful IT transformation and cloud adoption. Be part of a team focused on working with customers to ensure they’re leveraging the full economic potential of AWS through cloud financial management. As an Optimization Specialist, you will have the opportunity to engage and consult with some of the largest and fastest growing cloud customers in the world.

Cost and operational effectiveness is key to accelerating the business and technological benefits of the AWS platform. AWS offers customers an alternative consumption model that differs from how businesses have traditionally bought IT, by focusing on paying only for what they need. We're looking for a hands-on and motivated self-starter who's passionate about working directly with customers to help adopt new business strategies and embrace cloud technologies at scale that ensure long-term customer success.

You will engage with customers’ Enterprise IT, Operations, and Finance teams to implement best practices for cloud adoption and cost savings. This will include generating and providing recommendations on how customers can optimize their usage of AWS services, working to reengineer internal processes, and ensuring customer success on AWS. You will have superb communication and customer-relationship skills, outstanding analytic insight, and be a passionate advocate for AWS customers. You will analyze large data sets, create financial models and simplify complex data to provide our customers with detailed, specific recommendations for implementing best practices for cloud adoption and cost savings. You must be comfortable working directly with customers, possess exceptional organizational skills, capable of creating simple, scalable solutions to difficult problems, and thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

Key job responsibilities
As a Customer Optimization and Acceleration Specialist I, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial success for AWS customers by creating and delivering executive-level content, serving as a subject matter expert in cost and commercial aspects throughout the customer life-cycle, and empowering clients with tools for effective cloud and IT spend management. Additionally, you'll lead the way in assessing reporting needs, establishing KPIs, and managing multiple strategic requests to ensure continuous progress and success in customer transformation and optimization initiatives.

A day in the life
A Day in the Life of an AWS Optimization Specialist

6:30 am - Wake up bright and early, grab a quick coffee, and get ready to tackle the day ahead. As an AWS Optimization Specialist, you know every day is filled with exciting new challenges and opportunities to help your customers succeed.

8:00 am - Arrive at the office, ready to dive into the latest data and analytics. You'll be spending the morning reviewing usage patterns, forecasting costs, and identifying areas where customers can optimize their AWS spend. Your keen eye for detail and analytical prowess will be put to the test as you uncover hidden opportunities for your customers.

10:00 am - Time for a video call with one of your largest enterprise customers. They're looking to scale their cloud infrastructure and need your expertise to ensure they're leveraging the full economic potential of AWS. You'll collaborate with their IT, operations, and finance teams to understand their pain points and develop a tailored plan to streamline their cloud utilization and reduce costs.

12:00 pm - Break for a quick lunch, but the work doesn't stop! You'll use this time to stay up-to-date on the latest AWS service updates, industry trends, and best practices. Constantly learning and adapting is key in this fast-paced environment.

1:30 pm - Back in the zone, you'll dive into a complex data set to create a financial model for a customer looking to migrate more workloads to the cloud. Your ability to simplify complex information and provide clear, actionable recommendations will be crucial in helping them navigate the transition.

3:00 pm - It's time to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on. You'll be working directly with a customer's IT team to reengineer their internal processes and implement best practices for cloud adoption. Your technical acumen and customer-centric approach will shine as you guide them through the journey.

5:00 pm - Before heading home, you'll take a moment to reflect on the day's achievements. Seeing the positive impact you've had on your customers' businesses is the most rewarding part of being an AWS Optimization Specialist. You can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store!
