We're looking for a dynamic General Accountant to join our team in Leighton Buzzard.

Brief Description of Key Job Requirements:

This role is site based with some hybridity in Leighton Buzzard. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this person will have primary responsibility for accounts in their workgroup. This is a busy, dynamic environment, working to tight deadlines.

•    Working with apprentices to build their skills and experience on an ad hoc basis, and to guide them through additional tasks that may be required

• Preparation of monthly VAT returns;
•    Completion of high quality monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations to be completed by specified deadlines;
•    Compilation of information to submit regular and ad hoc National Statistics surveys, including working with budget holders to obtain timely and relevant information;
•    Ownership of the fixed asset process, including liaising with fixed asset requestors, FP&A leads, and Central Fixed Asset teams to ensure that appropriate approvals are obtained, and documented in the eCAR approval system;
•    Management of GRNI balances;
•    Support month end close process including preparation and posting of journals. Familiarity with JDE systems preferable but not essential;
•    Support the internal control environment process documentation, monitoring and compliance activities;
•    Support reconciliation of intercompany accounts; and
•    High quality completion of any other ad hoc tasks required by the business.  

Requirements:

  • A “hands on” approach.
  • It is essential that the successful candidate have experience working in a large, matrixed organisation.
  • AAT Qualified is highly desirable.
  • Supervisory experience also desirable.
  • Flexible individual with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • IT literate with strong Excel skills.
  • Strong communicator
