JLL empowers you to shape a brighter way.

Our people at JLL and JLL Technologies are shaping the future of real estate for a better world by combining world class services, advisory and technology for our clients. We are committed to hiring the best, most talented people  and empowering them to  thrive, grow meaningful careers and to find a place where they belong.  Whether you’ve got deep experience in commercial real estate, skilled trades or technology, or you’re looking to apply your relevant experience to a new industry, join our team as we help shape a brighter way forward.

We are looking for a Senior Surveyor / Associate to join the Residential Valuation and Living Advisory team in our Bristol office, covering Bristol and the South West

Busy, stable, and very successful in our market, the team needs a skilled valuer who can generate, lead and take responsibility for a wide variety of instructions, including residential and mixed use development sites, residential and student investment portfolios and strategic land.

Clients include banks, investors, housing associations, local authorities and developers, all of the calibre you would expect for a firm of JLL’s size and reputation.  Your skills as a valuer will be coupled with client relationship management and active business development.

Strong valuation experience including secured lending is a prerequisite for the role.

Working in support of a Director, and with other colleagues both making up the team in Bristol and in our Exeter team, this role would suit someone who is proficient in development appraisals (experience of Argus Developer is a distinct advantage), investment valuations (ideally including DCF) and comparables; highly numerate, comfortable handling data, and with a keen eye for detail.   Fluent report writing and strong communication skills with clients, both lenders and borrowers, are essential.

The role is based in our Bristol office, but with flexible and hybrid working.  Some travel regionally will be required.  You must have a full driving license and the ability to travel for your work.

Required or desirable skills and experience for this role:

  • MRICS qualification (essential) and 3+ years’ PQE ideally.

  • RICS Registered Valuer status ideally.

  • Strong experience in the valuation for secured lending purposes, not confined to a single asset type or approach to valuation.

  • Fluent user of MS Excel.

  • Comfortable handling data.

  • Excellent written English, with the ability to produce high quality, accurate reports in MS Word with impeccable attention to detail.

  • Experience of successfully managing client relationships and instructions, including being able to explain and justify approach and assumptions adopted to clients.

  • Experience in coaching junior colleagues and supervising their work.

  • Ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple, competing priorities.

  • Strong work ethic, with a demonstrable commitment to client service.

  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated.

  • Flexible, team player.
