As the Head of Cross-Border Product, you will play a pivotal role in driving customer volume growth, profitability, and overall success within the automotive cross-border business. Operating in a matrix environment alongside Maersk CEN, NAM, and MX teams, you will lead strategic initiatives, solve complex customer challenges, and deliver on ambitious business goals. Here are the key responsibilities:

Business Leadership:

  • Protect and grow the Cross-Border automotive business.
  • Assume regional P&L ownership for the automotive Cross-Border segment.
  • Develop regional go-to-market plans, business strategies, and growth initiatives.
  • Lead product development efforts.

Growth Enablement and Solution Design:

  • Collaborate closely with commercial teams to shape commercial strategy and execute sales plans.
  • Own technical sales for Cross-Border automotive, working directly with customers to develop tailored solutions.
  • Engage with cross-border Maersk teams and expand bid board capabilities.

Profitability and Operations Excellence:

  • Drive overall results, growth, and profitability.
  • Optimize operations by collaborating with delivery and customer experience functions.
  • Take ownership of Cross-Border automotive P&L and product management.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a robust category strategy for Cross-Border operations.
  • Collaborate with Product teams to create competitive supply chain solutions along the Mexico-USA and Canada-USA borders.
  • Establish and nurture a sustainable vendor ecosystem, including transportation, customs, and transload services.
  • Evaluate investments (e.g., 53’ containers) to reduce reliance on third-party vendors.
  • Identify backhaul opportunities to enhance round-trip economics.
  • Implement a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program to build loyalty and secure capacity.
  • Provide market intelligence and drive procurement efforts through RFQ events.
  • Build sophisticated Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models for benchmarking.
  • Ensure accurate and competitive pricing by collaborating with Sales, Product, and Operations.
  • Foster excellent service delivery and customer satisfaction through collaboration with Delivery and Maersk Brokerage.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (graduate studies preferred).
  • 10 years of experience in transportation or supply chain.
  • Prior experience in procurement or vendor management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a matrix organization.
  • Strategic mindset and data-savvy.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Customer-centric approach.
