We are committed to optimizing the Controllership function by harnessing technology-enabled process optimization, ensuring effective governance and ruthless prioritization across transformation efforts, centralizing and standardizing the portfolio and project and change management processes, and driving effective operational reporting and insights across the CAO organization. By owning standards, best practices, and cutting-edge tools for portfolio, project and transformation work, we ensure consistency, scalability, reliability, and agility in our operations.

Reporting to the VP, Controllership Operations, the Sr. Director, Program Management will be responsible for leading a team of strategic portfolio management, program management and change management professionals to drive large-scale initiatives in support of the transformation strategy across the Controllership, External Reporting, Expense/Payables, and Payroll teams.

The role is responsible for designing standardized intake and prioritization processes, enhancing strategic portfolio management practices, instilling program management best practices and tools/templates, driving project deliverables and milestones to completion. Additionally, this role will closely partner with various Controllership functions to build alignment on scope and approach, business requirements and processes, and optimized solutions that deliver both short and long term strategic goals. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader that has 1) depth in experience in portfolio, program, project, and change management; 2) strong executive presence, 3) excellent communication skills, 4) a strategic and problem-solving mindset and sense of curiosity, and 5) proficient program management skills with experience managing complex and transformational programs.

This is an office-flexible role for Indianapolis, IN or Atlanta, GA. The candidate selected for this role is encouraged to be in-office 3 days/week to collaborate with their teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and own best practices, tools and templates, and prescribed processes for strategic portfolio management, program management and change management activities for use across all Controllership initiatives
  • Design, implement and manage formalized initiative intake and dispositioning process
  • Create, deliver and manage a portfolio dashboard, and implement appropriate operational cadences and engagement points with senior leadership to drive awareness regarding project strategy, progress-to-plan, risks/issues, partner concerns, and other pertinent information
  • Proactively build strong, trusted working relationships with functional leaders and internal and external business partners to drive alignment
  • Effectively plan, coordinate, and direct the delivery of large, complex programs while managing risks and issues to minimize scope, budget, and schedule impacts. Ensure cohesive plan including all stakeholder activities as well as all necessary Change Management and Communications plans are incorporated.
  • Develop comprehensive initiative plans inclusive of all core execution tasks as well as Change Management and Communication activities.
  • Facilitate recurring project team meetings to focus on and accelerate project execution, identify and manage dependencies across the functional area, and manage risks/issues
  • Effectively lead, empower and hold accountable direct team members and team members in a matrixed organization to complete priorities; ability to effectively manage third-party resources
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to enhance team competencies and drive engagement and effective career planning for team members
  • Ability to engage with Senior Leaders and escalate risks and issues appropriately to them on an ongoing basis

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 12+ years of confirmed experience leading complex portfolio and program management, preferably for large-scale transformations
  • 5+ years driving and/or influencing significant transformation (at executive leadership level and below) to improve quality and achieve business outcomes
  • Experience in building, managing and developing high-performing and engaged teams
  • Experience leading teams through significant change with calmness
  • Ability to drive and realize strategic benefits through successful completion of projects, able to excel in a collaborative environment, build rapport, and influence leaders at higher levels
  • Self-starter with the ability to work through ambiguity and thrives in fast-paced and multifaceted environments and is able to deliver within defined timeframes
  • High Emotional Intelligence (EQ) specifically being a great active listener and communicator, who can convey complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing to various levels of leadership
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor individuals through influence rather than direct reporting relationships
  • Ability to lead an engaged, diverse and global team that spans geographies and time zones
  • Solid command of project lifecycle and project management methodologies (e.g. PMI framework, agile/scrum)
  • Demonstrated alignment to Salesforce’s values: Trust, Customer Success, Innovation, and Equality
  • Demonstrated organization with high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated comfort in dealing with ambiguity and ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Demonstrated experience in driving a “quality first” mindset
  • Experience with Accounting, Expense/Payables, and/or Payroll processes is a plus
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus
  • MBA or other advanced degree is a plus
