The EMEIA Financial Services Organisation (FSO) Public Policy team, helps to strengthen EY’s brand externally and protect EY’s reputation while assisting EY FSO client teams in the market. This involves developing relationships with regulators, financial services trade bodies, investors and leading on many areas of public policy. The team is responsible for identifying and assessing the impact of EU regulatory and policy matters on FSO clients and where applicable political and regulatory risk to EY. This role is based in the Brussels ‘EY Hub’ office and may involve some travel to other locations (e.g., Paris and London). Key Responsibilities

 

•    Lead and develop regulatory affairs program with EU stakeholders
•    Identify strategic commercial opportunities for the FSO business within the global and European regulatory pipeline
•    Highlight and action potential commercial opportunities linked to European institutions
•    Create insights and analysis of key regulatory developments for both clients and internal stakeholders
•    Contribute to EY’s Global Regulatory Network
•    Be the liaison between the EY Hub in Brussels and FSO business
•    Support with internal interactions with subject matter experts and senior leaders

 

Skills and Attributes for Success

 

•    Demonstrable ability to develop trusted business relationships with senior stakeholders 
•    Ability to work collaboratively across countries within the EY business as a whole
•    Ability to distil complex regulatory issues into simple and actionable messages for clients
•    Ability to operate calmly under pressure and manage competing priorities, especially with regards to ad-hoc client requests
•    Experience in responding to public consultations
•    Ability to work independently without detailed oversight
•    Strong sense of initiative and ability to think innovatively
•    Strong personal awareness and credibility in their chosen field
•    Knowledge of international regulatory environment (particularly in financial services is a strong advantage)
•    Good organisational, project management and time management skills with a strong focus on delivering results, including an ability to plan ahead and anticipate problems
•    Existing relationships with EU policymakers are a strong advantage
•    Fluent English – proficiency in French would be a distinct advantage
