Your Role and Responsibilities
Data powers the insights companies use to transform the way they work. Do you enjoy analysing data to push marketers to take actions that improve their performance? Do you have proven experience finding actionable insights in large data sets that lead to measurable business results?
The Marketing Analytics team directly impacts the direction of the marketing organization and all of IBM. We provide insights that drive both strategic and tactical outcomes for the company and directly guide marketing execution.

As an Analytics Specialist, you will work with business stakeholders, engineers, marketing and sales teams to use analytical insights to develop strategies for end-to-end campaign implementation and execution.
You will get exposure to all aspects of marketing, from early-stage audience targeting via paid media investment, to capturing demand through our web presence, to response to lead management and sales analytics.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to focus on synthesizing and applying analytic insights during the execution phase to improve performance for a particular business area, project or trial.
  • Perform complex quantitative analyses to evaluate customer engagement and the impact of marketing activities on-demand generation, including pipeline, revenue, content engagement, media spend optimization, routing, channel performance, lead conversion, pipeline yield and ROI, and other key strategic levers
  • Utilize proprietary and external data to analyze IBM’s target audience segmentation and create recommendations for improving the user experience at all stages of the journey and identifying the right audience for targeting
  • Measure performance and establish new measurement systems to detect performance shifts and increase marketing effectiveness
  • Develop, design and present data-driven optimization recommendations via dashboards, reports, and analyses
  • Communicate insights to team members, other marketing groups, and IBM leadership
We maintain a responsible consideration of health and safety practices and ongoing support for a hybrid office, in-office/remote office balance.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 7+ years relevant analytics work experience in marketing analytics, including experience in a data-driven technology business or company with a sophisticated data stack
  • Technically skilled to perform complex data querying and work with complex data models using Advanced SQL/R/Python or other query and programming tools to process and analyse data
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to analyse and manipulate marketing data and work on data flows across systems
  • Thought leadership in working on functional objectives and shaping an analytical solution
  • Ability to perform root-cause analysis with limited supervision
  • Deep critical thinking skills and curiosity to pursue open-ended problems via data
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to effectively communicate complicated analyses to non-technical employees and leadership
  • Business acumen with the ability to develop data-driven business recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask with minimum supervision and prioritize with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Master’s degree in Mathematics / Statistics / Economics / Applied Statistics / Applied Mathematics / Computer Programming / Analytics is a strong plus.
  • Relevant work experience in customer analytics and web analytics is a plus.
  • Experience with Cognos / Tableau / Dundas or other data visualization tools is a plus.
