Department Overview

The Evidence and Devices Engineering team is responsible for Motorola Solutions’ body cameras, vehicle cameras and evidence management software leveraged in public safety and enterprise applications world wide.
We are a thriving and growing company in search of a highly skilled Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our devices team a tour Edinburgh, Scotland site. This is a full time role where you will play a crucial part in the development and growth of our body worn camera software projects.

Job Description

Analyzes, develops, designs, and maintains software for the organization’s products and systems. Performs system integration of software and hardware to maintain throughput and program consistency. Develops, validates, and tests: structures and user documentation.

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining exemplary embedded software.

  • Advancing the state of the art of our embedded Linux based codebase.

  • Collaborating effortlessly with cross-functional teams to shape project requirements and technical specifications, collectively striving for exceptional outcomes.

  • Creating robust, scalable, and high performance software solutions that make a significant difference.

  • Ensuring the highest quality standards and adherence to industry best practices through comprehensive code reviews and constructive feedback, fostering a positive and productive environment.

  • Remaining well-informed about the latest trends and advancements in software development practices.


Basic Requirements

Please note this is a hybrid role based out of our Edinburgh office.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Proven experience of a minimum of 5 years, exemplifying your passion for embedded software engineering on Linux platforms.

  • A profound understanding of the C programming language for embedded applications.

  • A proven track record of developing code, authoring and refining stories, and executing tests in an Agile embedded development environment.

  • A strong understanding of modern development practices such as Agile, CI/CD and DevOps.

  • Great written and verbal communication skills.

  • You can breakdown a concept based on your audience, whether they’re technical or non-technical.

  • Bachelors degree in a Software engineering discipline (or equivalent working experience)
