The Pricing Manager will assist the Head of Freight/Pricing in developing and implementing a strategic pricing strategy for our full truckload, less than truckload (LTL), and drayage freight pricing. Head up the performance of analytics on current and prospective clients related to freight pricing, optimization, carrier mix, time in transit, and ad hoc reporting request. The Pricing Manager will also make assignments for preparing client RFP’s, creating reports to measure KPI’s, as well as conduct detailed analytical work on General Rate Increases. The Pricing Manager requires outward leadership skills, advanced excel knowledge, data analytics, phone and email interaction with operations and sales management, and client services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage a team of Pricing Analysts
  • Develop and implement market competitive freight pricing for new and existing clients according to overall company strategies
  • Assign workflow projects to Pricing Analysts on your team
  • Analyze freight data to predict and report on revenue, cost, and margin trends
  • Query multiple data sources to aggregate data for reporting and review.
  • Optimize pricing based on market conditions, client needs and shipping profile
  • Analyze existing and potential new business opportunities
  • Work with internal teams to develop company pricing strategies
  • Develop business proposals and bid responses to support sales presentations
  • Monitor that all pricing rates from your team are accurate and reflect proper margins
  • Conduct regular one on one meetings with pricing analysis staff assigned to you
  • Other duties as assigned that support the sales, management, and operations teams.

Required Qualifications, Experience, Skills, & Business/Technical Knowledge

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in related field strongly preferred
  • 8-10 years of experience minimum with Pricing especially with Ground Freight products
  • Experienced supervising and building a strong team maintaining positive engagement.
  • Strong technical skills including Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to supervise out and hold others accountable.
  • Proven ability to deliver successful financial and operational results
  • Experience building pricing and profitability strategies, solving complex problem and enabling teams to drive revenue growth
  • Ability to work within a matrix organization.
  • Team-oriented mentality
  • Conduct business and work cross functionally in a professional manner
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate well with personnel from multiple departments and disciplines
  • Strong understanding of how to collect and review statistical data as well as the ability to differentiate good data from bad data
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and learn new skills.
