Department Overview

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the implementation of Public Safety Communication System projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting the PM (Project Management) team in implementing Communication System Projects throughout the territory. Additionally meeting corporate financial and customer satisfaction goals, maintaining the project costs, schedule, and overall implementation for all projects under their control

Note: This is a remote position with travel (25-50%) to support projects. The candidate MUST reside in or be open to relocation to NH, ME, MA, or VT.

Overview:

Manages the development and/or implementation of Motorola Solutions products or services. Coordinates departmental or cross-functional teams, focused on delivering new or upgraded existing products or services. Manages projects from inception to completion (or transition), including tracking and evaluation of project performance.  Ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and within accepted quality metrics. Participates in project review and status meetings, and communicates project status. Utilizes six sigma and project management industry best practices to ensure maximum project effectiveness.  Motivates project team to ensure optimal performance.  

Responsibilities:

  • The Project Manager position is responsible for assisting the PM (Project Management) team in implementing Communication System Projects throughout the territory.
  • The focus on this PM position is the utilizing PM tools (schedule, critical path analysis, budget, change order, risk assessment, action item log, etc) to analyze complex issues and develop resolutions for any issues related to assigned project(s) for each of the lead PMs in the territory.
  • The PM will be assigned to be responsible for many internal processes in a supporting role for projects across the territory.
  • These internal processes could include ERAs, Order Management, Forecasting, Workbench, Kissflow, Planview, Invoicing Requests, and Revenue Tracking.
  • External Items the role could be responsible for in a supporting role on a project include contractual required reports, meeting tracking, training, and inventory control.
  • Other duties could be assigned by the Lead PM or PM Management as required. Small projects could be assigned to this Associate with no lead PM involvement.
  • Knowledge and Experience in both the Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Google Suite (Sheets, Documents, Presentation)
  • Assists with managing projects from inception to completion (or transition), including tracking and evaluation of project performance.
  • Ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and within accepted quality metrics.
  • Participates in project review and status meetings, and communicates project status.
  • Utilizes six sigma and project management methodologies to ensure maximum project effectiveness.  
  • May assist in the development of business plans, strategies, and approaches to take advantage of business opportunities.

Additional Skills Preferred:

  • Engineering background or working knowledge a plus.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Understanding of two way radio communications, NG911, LTE and CAD products, services, and systems is a plus.
  • Understanding of local public safety customers, such as police, fire, and emergency medical services is a plus.
  • Must be a self motivated team player able to work effectively with general guidance toward objectives. Must have excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Must be fluent user of word processing, spreadsheet and project management tools

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 6 + years of project/program management or engineering experience
  • OR 8 + years of project/program management or engineering experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
