Job Description Summary

The Program Coordinator II is responsible for providing supportive duties to the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center by coordinating the service design and delivery of the REACH (Resiliency, Engagement, and Accessibility for Comorbid HIV/PTSD/SUD populations) Clinic Program (SAMHSA 1H79TI086836-01).”.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: facilitating and maintaining communication with current HIV and substance use prevention and treatment partnership sites; establishing new partnerships and program sites in the Charleston area; overseeing and coordinating the recruitment of both REACH team members, as well as participants and clients served through the program; implementation of evidence-based programming; ensuring data gathering and monitoring systems are maintained per organizational requirements; assisting in evaluation of these implemented programs and therapies; maintaining expertise in the program areas; providing case management services to participants and their families as needed and coordinating with the project therapists and Ryan White clinic team members; and communicating with program leadership and SAMHSA program staff on the program’s progress, as well as preparing project reports and assisting with problem solving barriers to reach the projects’ goals.

Role includes a strong background in working with at-risk minority populations and coordinating the implementation and evaluation of health promotion programming with HIV clinics. Role will be responsible for implementing SBIRT and trauma screening and coordinating Referrals for Treatment for substance use/traumatic stress for racial/ethnic minority populations who are living with HIV and/or at high risk for HIV; conducting needs/barriers to treatment assessments with clients, linkage with services, and assisting with increasing HIV/VH testing. This role will include daily operations and coordination of all facets of the project.

Job will require in person work; occasional after hours and weekend work.

Job Description

FLSA: Salaried

Work Schedule: M-F, 8:30AM - 5:00PM; on campus w/ possibility for some remote work

Job Duties:

  • 20% - The REACH Project Coordinator works to develop patient pathways, coordinate care, and connect new patients with HIV-related services (e.g., PEP, PrEP, and HIV testing), trauma/PTSD treatment, and substance use treatment programs and/or implement/modify existing programs. Individual is also responsible for maintaining professional relationships with partners and program sites, developing connections with new partners and program sites, and coordinating and overseeing the implementation and evaluation of REACH program activities with program sites.
  • 20% - The Project Coordinator plans, supervises, and participates in programmatic activities, including coordination of screening activities using evidence-based tools for identification of eligible patients, streamlining referrals from different partner sites, updating weekly recruitment logs and activities, and overseeing linkage to services. Reports confidence in providing trauma-focused mental health assessment. Assists the project clinicians in case management, implementation of data capture protocols, and engagement in intervention services. Aids with navigation services (e.g., screening and referrals). Oversees the REACH clinicians and case managers such that they are meeting project expectations. Organizational oversight of patient flow.
  • 20% - Maintains up to date expertise on and implements evidence-based HIV and substance use prevention programs and interventions and maintains knowledge of substance use disorder treatment programs and interventions and coordinates the clinicians implementing such treatment interventions. Learns about new and existing programs and makes suggestions for improvements of existing programs based on new evidence and science. Attends trainings and webinars on evidence-based prevention programs and interventions. Coordinates and leads training at community sites in SBIRT, HIV risk assessments, and/or other evidence-based curriculum.
  • 10% - Functions as the REACH Program Community Liaison and Public relations contact, maintains up-to-date knowledge of the REACH Program area through research, attending meetings and conferences and attending special speaking engagements. Attends relevant state and local committee meetings as well as participates in subcommittee groups. Also provides the public with knowledge and expertise in the program area through engagement at public events (i.e. health fairs) and public relation events (i.e. radio and tv appearances, speaking engagements when applicable).
  • 10% - Also conducts Program Evaluation Surveys and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) analysis for the REACH Program, in conjunction with the REACH clinicians, REACH supervisors, and program evaluator. Under the guidance of the Program Evaluator, conducts pre, post, and follow up surveys with program participants and ensures data is collected with integrity. Also assists with setting up databases and spot-checking accuracy of data entered. Conducts quality assurance checks and identifies any problems and needs regarding program implementation. Makes recommendations for modifications and improvements to the Program Evaluator and leadership team.
  • 5% - Assists the Program Evaluator reporting for the REACH Program. Assists in creating regular, required data reports to send to funding agencies, as well as writing and submitting progress reports within the time period set by the granting agencies.
  • 5% - Assists with finding relevant funding announcements and submitting grants for all projects and is responsible for assisting in writing and submitting yearly renewal applications.
  • 5% - Responsible for budgetary oversight of the activities funded under the REACH Program. Assists with project budget, including evaluating expenditures to ensure that they adhere to granting agency requirements and that they are in line with the goals and objectives of the project.
  • 5% - Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Training and Education: Masters level degree in counseling, social work, public health, psychology or related field preferred.
