Job Description:

General Information:

The Production Planner will provide operational and technical leadership for the Job Planning, Scheduling and Cost Saving initiatives at our Stoney Creek Service Center. This role requires experience with planning jobs, building repair schedules, tracking and monitoring job costs and leading cost saving improvement projects with Transformer Repairs.

Responsibilities:

  • This fast-paced role requires a strong hands-on individual with technical skills, team leadership, business acumen and highly effective communication skills to perform some or all of:

  • Implement / maintain accurate job scheduling system based on Customer want dates

  • Work closely with Specialists, Supervisors and Buyer to ensure job specific milestones, cost and delivery targets are met

  • Provide Contract and Program Management support as required

  • Assist sourcing and shop floor in the outsourcing process as required

  • Responsible for tracking and maintaining shop performance metrics

  • Provide shop specific sales forecasting data

  • Support the Quality Management System as well as the Environmental Health and Safety System

  • Perform Quality System audits in accordance with ISO 9001 and QMS as required

  • Coordinate and lead process and product specific ITM Kaizens

  • Identify, manage and drive cost out projects to fruition

  • Work closely with SCM to address any areas of concern

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

  • Proven experience in Quality, Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement

  • 3+ years’ experience in the Transformer repair field

  • Project management experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong commitment towards customer service

  • Ability to adjust priorities based on the service needs and customer impact

  • Superior administrative, planning, organizational and follow-up skills

  • Self-starter and be able to work with a minimum of supervision

  • Demonstrated experience as a team player and leading teams

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficient with computer and software - MS Office, Microsoft Project, SAP & Kronos

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification or training is an asset
