About the role:

Exciting opportunity for an experienced motivated Electrician to join our Above Water Systems (AWS) team based in Garden Island NSW. Reporting into the Electrical Workshop line Manager your primary responsibility will be to carry out electrical work including preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and new installations as required, both onboard naval and commercial vessels and in the Electrical workshop, following all relevant procedures and work practices.
 

You accountabilities will include;

  • Safe and proper use of battery, electric and pneumatic (air) power tools and workshop machines.

  • Provide support to the team you are assigned to in all matters, no matter how small.

  • Running of cables onboard naval and commercial vessels.

  • Termination of fixed wiring onboard naval and commercial vessels

  • Termination of earthing onboard naval and commercial vessels.

  • Fitting of cable support systems onboard naval and commercial vessels.

  • Soft Soldering of terminations within panels, junction boxes etc.

  • Assemble or repair cable assemblies IAW Drawings, Work Instructions and/or written specifications.

  • Assemble or repair and test of electrical components (Junction Boxes, Relay panels etc) IAW Drawings, Work Instructions and/or written specifications.

  • Test leads and appliances/tools for safety compliance using Thales AUS/00647 –GID Electrical Equipment (Plug-in) –Inspection & Testing(after appropriate training, if required).

How about you;

Our ideal candidate will have proven experience in a range of electrical and controls work. Repair and maintain propulsion machinery, power generation systems, air conditioning systems, refrigeration and more, in this wide-ranging role. They will have demonstrated awareness of and commitment to workplace health and safety requirements with a proven ability to apply this in an electrical work environment

  • Australian recognised Electrical Trade Certificate

  • A current Induction for Construction Work (White Card).

  • A current Qualified Supervisor Certificate (Electrical Licence)

  • Job may include some Overtime ( evening and weekend hours).

  • Able to work in a multi-cultural, multi trade environment

  • Ship repair / marine industry experience advantageous

  • Familiar with confined space and working at heights requirements
