Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Learning Engineer to join our growing team. We are looking for a tenured software engineer who will be responsible for accelerating the enablement of amazing on-device ML experiences. This is a unique opportunity to work on powerful new technologies and contribute to the ecosystem.  In this role, you will work closely with senior leaders bringing cutting-edge AI experiences to our users by enabling the deployment of state-of-the-art machine learning models onto devices. You will be responsible for the conversion, optimization, and deployment of machine learning models.

Responsibilities:

Model Conversion:

  • Convert models from various frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow to other target formats, to ensure compatibility and optimized performance across different platforms.

Model Optimization:

  • Employ cutting-edge techniques, such as quantization and sparsity-induction, to compress and accelerate large models (e.g., LLMs) for optimal performance on resource-constrained devices.

  • Analyze and optimize models for efficient execution on Apple GPUs, ANEs, NPUs.

  • Diagnose performance bottlenecks and collaborate with hardware architecture teams to co-design solutions for improved latency, power consumption, and memory footprint.

Model Deployment:

  • Collaborate with application developers to integrate optimized models into applications, ensuring seamless user experience.

  • Analyze the impact of optimization techniques on model quality by partnering with modeling and adaptation teams across diverse product use cases.

Qualifications:
  • Proven programming skills with standard machine learning tools such as Python, C/C++,  PyTorch, and TensorFlow (5+ years of experience). Experience with some formats like CoreML, ONNX, TensorRT, and TensorFlow.JS

  • 10+ years of proven industry experience in related fields

  • Solid understanding of state-of-the-art deep neural network (DNN) optimization techniques, their translation to hardware acceleration architectures, and system performance (compute/memory) tradeoffs. Model optimizing techniques like quantization etc.

  • Experience building APIs and/or core components of machine learning frameworks.

  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, as this role requires working closely with vendor partners to bring proposed technical changes back to their platforms.

  • Preferred but not must have, hands-on experience in digital imaging techniques and LLM.

  • Bachelor's, or Master's, in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
