About the Role
Exciting opportunities exist for passionate, caring and qualified Health Assistants (Nursing) to join our dynamic team at St Vincent’s Hospital. You will work as part of a wider ward team, under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) or equivalent, and will make a positive contribution to patient care through assistance and support to our Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses.

You will also:

  • Contribute to positive patient outcomes by ensuring all elements of delegated work is completed accurately and in accordance with St Vincent's policies and procedures

  • Participate in delegated aspects of patient care, including but not limited to assistance with: personal hygiene, nutritional needs, mobility, transfers and positioning within the ward, elimination needs

  • Ensure patient privacy and dignity is maintained at all times

Classifications for these roles will be IN38 - IN39  ($57,038.80 - $59,670.00)

Your Contribution

As a qualified Health Assistant (Nursing), you will bring strong interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with staff, patients and families to the role. You will be a reliable team player, who enjoys working within a multidisciplinary team.

You will also have:

  • Certificate III Health Assistant (Nursing) or have completed first year of Bachelor of Nursing

  • Previous experience as a Health Assistant is desirable

  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About 10 East

10 East is a medical ward caring for patients from the Renal, Stroke, Neurology, General Medicine and Dermatology Medical Units. 10 East offers staff a unique opportunity to gain expertise and knowledge in a range of medical conditions .Experience can be gained in looking after Renal Transplant or Acute Renal Failure patients, Acute Stroke patients, Neurology patients with MS or Epilepsy, Dermatology patients and acutely ill General Medicine patients. The ward offers staff education in nursing patients in Respiratory / Contact Isolation and educates staff in Peritoneal Dialysis. Staff work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary medical unit teams including the Home Therapies Unit regarding the Haemodialysis patients.
