Job Description

Workplace Status:

Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Team 

Join our cutting-edge Embedded Platform team, developing the future of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV). As a Senior Software Developer, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the System and Software tools and processes that power our global software organization. This is your chance to be at the forefront of automotive technology, creating the software infrastructure that will define the next generation of vehicles. 

 

The Role 

Sr. Software Engineer in this area is responsible for developing in-house tooling to generate GM's advanced basic infrastructure software for controller builds based on SDV architectureIn this role you will be part of the team that develops, integrates, and tests Java based tool-generated basic software that automates C-code generation of communication stack, ensuring end-to-end readiness in this area - one of the key product lines that enables application software development that uses communication stack.  

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and integrate cutting-edge software tools (Java and C) for GM's product line  

  • Effective use of agile practices, in particular Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery methodologies  

  • Interface with requirements owner to translate complex requirements into efficient tooling solutions, adhering to AutoSAR standards and serial data communication protocols  

  • Conduct needed unit/integration/regression testing, debugging, and validation of generated artifacts on standard platforms  

  • Enhance existing code frameworks with new capabilities that meet documented requirements  

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, design, and implement innovative workflow modifications  

  • Participate brainstorming sessions, contributing creative solutions to complex challenges in the area 

Additional Job Description

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science (Master's degree preferred)  

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive embedded software development  

  • Background with AutoSAR standards and serial data communication protocols  

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Java programming 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and business acumen, with a focus on understanding and meeting customer needs  

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, taking initiative to drive improvements 

 

Desired Skills 

  • Master’s degree in engineering or computer Science 

  • 2+ years of experience in a related field 

  • Understanding of Automotive Embedded Systems 

  • Working experience with Automotive Communication Stack  

  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems.
