JOB OBJECTIVE

Ensure the management of the industrial performances of his portfolio. He/She works in close relationships with Purchase, Industrial and Quality teams. He/She acts as a performance Industrial project manager, therefore he/she has to build and maintain all the conditions, internal and external, enabling performances.

He/She is accountable for the factories supplies in terms of quality and on time deliveries during the production or the support period after the FAI (First Article Inspection) milestone.

His/Her main mission is to achieve the SKPIs (Suppliers Key Processes Indicators) objectives, SOTD (Supplier On Time Delivery) and SOCD (Supplier On Conformity Delivery) defined by the organization.

He/She may be involved before the FAI during the development phase.

In a disruptive innovation approach for the improvement of the global performance: operational, competitiveness, services, footprint, he/she identifies and participates to the deployment of the levers enabling optimizations through all the product life cycle: design, production and support.

  • The SIPM is responsible for ensuring that the suppliers given is under his accountability are collaboratively improving performance in the most efficient and ethical way

  • Key Performance Indicators for this position are:

    Suppliers Key Processes Indicators as defined in Chorus

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Reviews, SKPIs and reporting

  • Organize and conduct the suppliers performance reviews with the purchase department

  • Validate and issue the SKPIs for his portfolio

  • Establish a monthly reporting for his portfolio

  • Prepare and participate to the Suppliers Performance Committees ( SuPerCo)

  • Transmit the SKPIs to the group level

  • Monitor and report on a regularly basis the global performance action plan addressing two main topics: quality and punctuality

Continuous Improvement

  • In order to manage the continuous improvement, put in place the Thales best practices, including lean manufacturing, with his suppliers:

  • Responsible for the deployment of corrective and preventive action plans, which address process, product, or component alerts from industrial operations, customer line fit manufactures, or the field support organization.

  • Act as a conduit to improve the overall interface between Thales and the Supplier, using lessons learned for the continuous improvement of both parties.

  • Develop and execute plans to eliminate the need for non-value add activities (e.g. the Seven Wastes, MUDA) in both Thales and Supplier processes, consistent with improving the quality and reliability of procured items

  • Deploy techniques including Six Sigma, DMAIC or Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify and evaluate the potential failures of process, prioritize actions to alleviate risk in both Thales and Supplier activities.

  • Crisis Mode

  • In case of quality or delivery crisis, lead the Task Force with his network

Nature of Communication

Supplier Industrial Performance Manager is a key interface for:

• Internal:

  • various departments such as bids, engineering, industrialization and legal departments as well as category purchasing counterparts in the region and at group level

• External:

  • Regional suppliers: for specific regional suppliers, implement development plans; manage risks and conflicts; manage supplier performance and ensure that the businesses have the required level of performance and innovation.

Innovation and Complexity

  • A good understanding of the Group and business matrix organization in order to ensure that the strategy is understood and adopted.

Impact

  • Enable regional Procurement strategy allowing Offset generation and securing additional business

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :

  • 3-6 years’ experience in Procurement.

  • Experience working in project/program, design / product development with cross-functional teams.

Demonstrable experience in negotiation projects &/or categories is desirable

QUALIFICATION, CERTIFICATION & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

Engineering degree or Master degree .

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to implement supplier Development and Management strategy

  • Contractual knowledge especially of framework agreements, Liability & insurance

  • Ability to influence supplier's decision makers

  • Understanding of  the supplier market under his/her control but also ability to understand the internal customer’s needs and program issues

  • Good knowledge of acquisition Process

Soft Skills:

  • Capability to work within cross functional and international multi organisational teams (teamwork)

  • Open minded (listen, share ideas etc.) and able to bring added value and new ideas

  • Communication

  • Report and synthesis ability

  • Ability to communicate and speak effectively before groups of customers, suppliers, or fellow employees

  • Ability to represent Thales and to demonstrate Thales values

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Languages:

English language fluency mandatory, Arabic is a plus as well as French
