Job Description:

Position Title: Scientific Officer
Employment Type: Permanent Full -Time
Hours per week: 38 Hours
Position Grade: Hospital Scientist Grade 1 (Year 1-8)
Salary: $70,956.89 - $101,208.98 base salary per annum
Enterprise Agreement: The NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Hospital Scientists Agreement 2020
Department Name: Clinical Pharmacology& Toxicology

We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Department/Service. Manager to include relevant details about the role and or service.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Position Title who possess a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who are Manager to include desired experience/attributes.

Selection Criteria:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2.Possessing the necessary tertiary qualifications in a scientific or technical field relevant to the practice of pathology and a solid understanding and experience in method development and validation as well as key instrumentation such as HPLC-UV, UPLC-MS/MS, GC- MS/MS.

3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering pathology services relevant to the laboratory, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Control Systems and computer programs such as Microsoft Office suite.
4. Demonstrated understanding of legislation, policies, and requirements that impact laboratory work health, safety, and privacy requirements.
5. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with clinical and laboratory staff, report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data, and the ability to clearly communicate policies and procedures
6. Demonstrated ability to work responsibly and efficiently and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines. Display initiative, problem-solving and analytical skills, including an ability to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory and investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the laboratory environment.
7. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment while working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes and contribute to a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the laboratory.
