Job Description

Work Arrangement:

  • This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan three times per week, at minimum. 

  • This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.

  • Position requires up to 75%+ travel to supplier facilities in North America

The Role:

Supervise a team of Tactical Operations Coordinators which work cross-functionally with Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Containerization, Logistics and GM assembly / manufacturing plants to facilitate critical supply issues and business transfers. This group deals with short term capacity issues caused by broken tools or equipment, fires, floods, and any other related supplier shortage issues.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support / Lead conference calls with business transfers and critical supply issues

  • Function as liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, logistics and suppliers to resolve issues and to provide technical support

  • Determine the cause of supplier delivery problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions

  • Help assess and assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions for critical issues

  • Improve delivery performance of suppliers by identifying process improvements and lead time reduction opportunities

  • May participate as member or resource to product development teams

  • Regularly exchange information with others inside and outside the work group including GM and supplier facilities

  • Work with Supplier Risk Management team with Financially Troubled Suppliers Keep management updated frequently, consistent with the issues urgency

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 6+ years of Manufacturing processes and program management experience is preferred

  • People Leader Experience (Preferred)

  • Excellent communication and command skills

  • Broad understanding of Tier 1 supplier technologies, including injection molded plastics, painting, stamping, and assembly.

  • Understanding of auto industry, competitors and GM vehicles

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and difficult projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results

  • Adept analytical ability to make difficult decisions and solve complex/unusual problems

  • High level of initiative and flexibility

  • Ability to deal with high levels of ambiguity, make assumptions, and support decisions

  • Bachelors Degree, or equivalent experience

  • Up to 75%+ travel

  • Must have Valid Passport
