Logistics Supervisor

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Logistics Supervisor to supervising the daily activities of the Logistics Department, which includes Receiving, Shipping, order fulfillment, and other warehouse management activities. In this role, you are responsible for team’s performance and ensuring all members of the team are trained, skilled, and have necessary resources to execute their job. To be successful, you will need to be a doer and a problem solver, you should “Make things happen”, be comfortable working with ERP systems such as SAP and complex processes to track, and log all necessary data following standard processes. You should also be comfortable with change and are able to work with necessary functions to standardize and create efficient processes for the team. This position requires frequent interaction with subordinates on daily processes and workflow. You will collaborate with local and global cross-functional teams including customer support, order administration, supplier management, master planning etc. in order to meet all Logistics and company objectives.

In this position, you will act as a leader to a group of employees, assigning tasks and checking work as well as developing, administering and maintaining schedules and performance requirements (KPI’s). You will apply data driven decision making to measure team’s performance and throughput. Logistic supervisor will play a critical role in ensuring safety, security, and compliance to meet the highest levels of standards while achieving all company objectives.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Schedules and organizes the workflow for the team, re-allocating the work evenly throughout the day between the team members. Organizes the Shipping/Receiving Administrators ensure the timely and efficient completion of the daily activities in a manner in accordance with ISO procedures and in line with current performance objectives for the Americas Supply Chain organization.
  • Comply with ATA300 packaging standards. Ensure customer on-time delivery and through-put objectives are met.
  • Conduct interviews and on-boarding tasks that ensure an optimal new hire experience. Perform job training and documentation to ensure we have one necessary job aids for all team members. Communicate, support and measure employee performance through data driven decision-making. Aid in setting employee goals and roadmap to achieve. Delegate and establish job responsibilities, making necessary adjustments as needed. Motivate and assist with conflict resolution.
  • Support leadership with workforce planning and forecasting. Optimize support staff responsible for dock-to-stock material flow. Monitors freight carrier’s performance, and resolves day-to-day issues related to inbound/outbound shipments. Responsible for verification of freight and customs invoicing with a view to minimize taxes. Ensures the issuance of all necessary reports to measure the performance and activity of the team.
  • Monitors the frequency and accuracy of the cycle counting. Supports in the Cycle Count program and the yearly audit review of inventory processes. Coordinates and works closely with the US Trade Compliance Manager on any topics or questions related to Import or Export compliance. Supports in the assignment of SH codes to achieve compliance with international standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Business fields with a minimum of 5-8+ years of experience or Master’s degree in Supply Chain or Business fields with 4+ years of experience.
  • Prior Supervisory experience is required.
  • Ability to manage and lead people in multiple functions is essential.
  • Requires strong leadership skills, as well as strong organization skills are required.
  • PC, Microsoft Office software (Word, Power Point and Excel).

Special Position Requirements

  • Schedule: Core Business Hours Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm and must be available to work other shifts as needed.
  • Physical Environment: It is primarily a warehouse environment, with constant interaction with production, repair station and business support teams.  It will include ESD environment, forklift operations and bulk storage with interaction with electrical and mechanical repair equipment and technicians.
  • Physical Demands: Occasional need to be able to lift and move materials of 40 lbs.
  • Travel: Minimal, less than 10% a year.
  • Regulatory Compliance Requirements: None.
