Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Night Shift
Location: Templecombe, Somerset
Shift Pattern: 4 day working week, 9.25 hours per day, 9pm - 6:30am.
There is a 30% uplift offered for this shift pattern, across the working hours.
Our Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer join our team in Templecombe, as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in our Towed Array workcell.
You will contribute to the definition, implementation, and maintenance of the Industrial Strategy for existing products (work cell embedded) and new products (transverse activity extending between upstream/downstream) through day-to-day technical support to the onsite industrial footprint.
You will also plays a key role within the wider Industrial footprint for key products, driving the right behaviours in Design for Manufacture within Engineering and Projects. He/she supports Procurement as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Industry to ensure that our supply chain deliveries robust products.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Contributes to the Manufacturing engineering phase and the successful introduction into production of new and legacy products within a defined production centre/area. Transverse only.
- Works with the Engineering teams through the Design, Development and Qualification phase to review Product Defining Data (PDD) and ensure it is suitable for manufacture. To also analyse and initiate changes to PDD throughout the design and product lifecycle. Transverse only.
- Preparing all data for and running Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs) on behalf of industry. & understanding of HSE regulations
- Identify opportunities for manufacturing equipment capital purchases with financial assessment (Cost-Benefit Analysis & ROI’s) completed in order to drive business competitiveness & to meet cost targets
- Assessing the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) of products by reviewing the product maturity with project teams to identify and minimise risks manufacturing risks.
- Is accountable for the definition, setup, preparation and optimisation of manufacturing processes and tooling for a defined area, or product line, i.e. defining and agreeing layout and infrastructure for a product line, or manufacturing area.
About You
You will either have proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, ideally from an Electro-Mechanical assembly/fabrication background (other manufacturing environments will also be considered).
Attributes include:
- Elaborates and implements tests & control plans for manufacturing equipment.
- Awareness and use of continuous improvement techniques and implementation of lean manufacturing
- Experience of manufacturing systems
- Understanding/awareness of connected industrial concepts
- Industrial experience of implementing new technologies (including change management and impact analysis).
- Strong Communication skills & experience training team members
