With the massive surge of electronic travel documents and national eID cards, Thales Digital & Security global business unit is supporting border agencies, government authorities and airports to exploit technology convergence to gain consistent, comprehensive border, visa management and document verification worldwide, that will:

• Deliver seamless travel with border control applications.
• Offer convenience for travelers for fast and secure border crossing.
• Improve border intelligence for detection and prevention, including some of the most disruptive new technologies like biometrics, machine learning, or micro services.

As a System Product Owner, you will:

• Maximize the value of the product resulting from the development team.
• Provide the best items for the development team to deliver high quality items.
• Also act as an interface between the technical solution and the business needs.               

A week in the life of a Thales Scrum Product Owner in Border & Travel:

• You are part of the cross-functional Scrum Engineering Team, working side by side with the Product Manager to maximize the value for the product, based on the work of the Engineering team.
• You update and communicate the Release Plan, aligned to the latest Product Roadmap that is maintained by the Product Manager with your input and the input of the other stakeholders.
• You work on the definition of the Product Goal, based on the Product Manager vision and communicate it to the developers.
• You complete the requirements specification, working with the Product Manager and write the initial User Stories and keep them ordered in the Backlog.
• You participate in the planning of the next Scrum sprint with refining & estimation sessions, setting the Sprint Goal as result.
• You participate in the technical design for the new next User Stories, communicating the Product goal and vision.
• You review the outcome of the Sprint Goal to make sure that work delivered matches the specification agreed and the Product vision communicated.

To succeed in this job, you must have:

Technical knowledge/functional skills:

• You graduated with a Master of Engineering or Computer Science or in University, and you have significant experience in your field of expertise.
• At least 3 years of experience working as software developer in an Agile team.
• Strong mindset of product management and understanding of customer needs.
• Interest on the business domain.
• Understanding of Microservices and Event driven architectures, REST APIs, data modeling and system design principles.
• Excellent English and Spanish communication skills.

Behavioral skills:

• Skills for effective communication with the different stakeholders and a good listener.
• You are recognized as a team-player and enjoy collaborative work.

Other (advantage):

• Project and/or product management, ideally as a Scrum Product Owner.
• Certification in Agile methodologies, such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM).
• Knowledge of data analytics and working with data with Elasticsearch and Kibana.
• Familiarity with hardware components and their integration within software systems.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices for securing hardware and software systems.
