Position Purpose

  • As an integral function within the CMO (Country Medical Office) organization, this position is responsible for ensuring that all medical and partner functions adhere to the “One Voice of Pfizer” and “One Face to the Customer” principles and it acts as the custodian of medical professionalism and scientific excellence for Pfizer.
  • This position is also responsible for ensuring medical and scientific leadership of Medical Japan in alignment with the internal and external country senior medical voice both internally and externally with collaborating by the Country Medical Director (CMD), all TA Leads, MCE Lead, MQO Lead and as ambassador of CMD.
  • This position is responsible for enhancing collaboration between medical and commercial functions in an appropriate way of each role. Medical Japan is to be a scientific and strategic business partner.
  • Additionally, this role will lead and collaborate with medical platform functions to execute Pfizer medical vision / strategy, including compliance to various regulations, policy and SOPs.
  • This position also creates, maintains and assumes accountability for a culture of ensuring all medical-related processes to be in compliance with every related rule (Company SOPs/Policies and other external rules) through process management and education to the related parties.
  • To ensure excellence and innovation, this position proactively and strategically manages Medical Platform group to promote customer facing capability, omnichannel approach, efficiency and more valuable Speaker program, Incorporation of patients’ voice to medical plans, and maximization of launch impact shaping the internal and/or external environment.
  • Responsibilities include recruitment, training, and development of the staff; ensuring skills are aligned with the medical vision.
  • This position is also expected to support Country Medical Director (CMD)-hosted matters such as Medical Affairs Leadership Forum and others in an appropriate way.
  • Additionally, this position has the role of a representative of medical customer facing medical organizing customer facing forum.

Responsibility

  • Organize Medical Customer Facing Forum and ensure medical field MAS has enough capability and quality through training, monitoring, information sharing.
  • Increase efficiency and scientific value of speaker program (SP) with SP SME leads in the team, involving all related functions both in medical and commercial colleagues.
  • Manage medical contents management team to establish the Drug information booklet (Interview form) for a HCP pharmacist which is requested by the Japanese Society of Hospital Pharmacists and ensure the content with high science level as the Japan-original local material which is comprehensive information material that covers the information necessary for HCP to use pharmaceuticals for prescription properly and ensure the document with keeping latest information
  • Facilitate medical communication with Patient Advocacy Group (PAG) and ensure to reflect patients’ voice in medical plan of each TA. Support medical TA colleagues to plan patient programs in collaboration with related internal PAG coordination roles.
  • Identify medical activities maximizing medical value at the launch and increase the transparency to ensure it as an organizational knowledge. Support and provide consultation on these medical activities for launch preparation in collaboration with TA colleagues, and share the best practice and tips.
  • Oversee the process and activities for customer facing to ensure the activities in compliance with all related rules, such as MHLW guidance, Code of Practice and Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Law.
  • Champion operational excellence to provide continuous improvement of processes and sharing of best practices across all medical functions.
  • Lead the conversation with Global Medical and Excellence team and IDM operational lead to ensure Glocal model.
  • Facilitatie Medical Affairs Leadership Forum with CMD to strengthen One medical team spirits in all medical leaders.
  • Provide administrative and technical oversight of the group.

Education

  • Master’s degree or advanced degree (PhD, MD) in the biomedical fields such as medicine, pharmacy, biology, biochemistry or equivalent or equivalent education or experience in related scientific discipline
  • MBA is preferrable

Experience

  • At least 10-year experience in the pharmaceutical fields (medical is preferable) or equivalent.
  • Experience as a line manager
  • Experience as a decision maker to matters under regulatory requirement
  • Experience of project management in cross functional tasks
  • Experience outside of medical division is preferrable
