About the Role
The Deputy Chief Medical Imaging Technologist will work in collaboration with the Chief Medical Imaging Technologist and other senior clinical team members, to provide operational management, leadership and supervision to staff and students within the St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne Medical Imaging Department (MID and SVPR).

This position will have a key involvement in the daily operations and administrative functions of Medical Imaging, including staff management and allocation, resource accountability, clinical workflow and stakeholder relationships.

  • Participate in clinical Radiography, performing imaging examinations across a number of modalities and sites within SVHM to a high diagnostic standard.

  • Ability to contribute effectively as a participative team member within a multidisciplinary team environment, including involvement in daily operations and decision making.

  • Participate in staff recruitment, orientation, training and performance development of staff within the team.

  • Perform or assist with administrative functions where required, which may include staff rosters, leave management, payroll and HR duties.

  • In conjunction with other senior Medical Imaging staff, participate in quality, strategic direction, improvement initiatives and executive functions of the department.


The classifications for this position is AF35 ($153,675 per annum).

Your Contribution

  • Under-graduate Bachelor degree and a relevant post graduate qualification within Medical Imaging- Medical Radiation or Medical Sonography.

  • Extensive clinical experience in Medical Imaging.

  • Demonstrated experience in professional leadership, supervision and/ or management of staff in a tertiary healthcare environment.

  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain.

About Medical Imaging
St Vincent’s Medical Imaging (MI) provides four comprehensive diagnostic imaging programs across three campus sites.

St. Vincent’s Medical Imaging Department (MID) is a tertiary imaging department providing  a comprehensive range of diagnostic and interventional imaging services to SVHM’s inpatients and outpatients. 

St. Vincent’s Private Radiology (SVPR) is a co-located comprehensive private radiology service providing imaging services to St. Vincent Private Hospital, the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and private outpatients.
