Controls System Engineer - GM Global Technical Center - Cole Engineering Center Tower

Job Description

Create and maintain system and subsystem technical specifications in IBM DOORS; may include functional and performance requirements, diagnostic requirements, and Calibration Bill of Materials (CALBOM). Work within an Agile Team to provide guidance and input to feature function development; resolve complex issues. Create and maintain mechanization drawings in alignment with Electrical Architecture ownership; verify System architecture alignment. Work closely with Subsystem Management Teams (SMT) to provide guidance on functionality associated with specific feature variants. Work with technical specialists and global software engineers to review software models to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements. Support issue resolution; root cause analysis, whether in vehicles or on electrical benches. Work with global technical teams to support system and subsystem level testing and defect reports. Review Owner’s Manual and Service Information related to the applicable systems and subsystems. Develop and deliver innovative functions related to the applicable system and subsystem. Schedule meetings to formulate solutions to issues and translate solutions into requirements. Involve in bench and vehicle verification and validation testing for applicable systems and subsystems. Complete system and subsystem level DFMEAs and collaborate in interfacing System and Component DFMEAs. Apply learning across applicable systems and subsystems. Assess JDP and Compass reviews and providing appropriate feedback. Support advanced technical work projects that drive future features, functions, and vehicle enhancements. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address

Additional Job Description

Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science. Two years of experience in job offered or related engineering position.  Must also have experience with microcontroller architectures, memory technologies, and programming; experience with writing and comprehending software/hardware requirements; experience with software verification/validation process; experience with computer operating systems, hardware and software; experience with interpreting electrical and architectural schematics; and experience with electrical infrastructure critical system support.
