Job Description

Work Arrangement:

  • This position is categorized as onsite, primarily reporting to the Davison Road Processing Center in Burton, MI.  The position will primarily be first shift but may require off shift or weekend support during equipment launches or to meet business needs. 

  • This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

The Role:

The Supply Chain, Warehousing and Logistics (SCWL) team for CCA is on a journey to automate and modernize our parts processing centers to better serve our customers, improve safety and increase productivity!  CCA is investing heavily in our future as we ReImagine what warehousing, and order fulfillment can be. This requires us to employ the most upbeat, capable, and innovative talent to ensure we meet the challenges of developing the new processes required to deploy technology that has never been used in the GM CCA network.  We offer a multifaceted and inclusive work environment that questions the status-quo daily to strengthen our reputation. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to learn new skills and actively play an integral role in the development of new processes for our Warehouse Strategy and Innovation Team (WSIO.)

This role will be involved in implementing the reimagination of processing in CCA. In this role your work will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies, and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems related to workstation design, process flow, and equipment installation. You will be responsible for equipment related to product packaging processes. You will use substantial independent judgment in complex or unusual situations.  You will be part of a team executing large scale organizational change.

What You'll Do:

  • Project management for large projects for equipment

  • Creation & maintenance of engineering standardized work

  • Providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources

  • Lead production area reorganization and redesign

  • Implement and maintain key safety processes and programs

  • Analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for product packaging processes

  • Provide technical support for new equipment including robotics and ASRS systems

  • Interact on a regular basis with plant operations, safety, and other engineering support staffs

  • Evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment

  • Responsible for Safety Contract Management (SCM) of OEMs including training, pre-task planning and weekly safety observation tours.

  • Lead G-comply safety verifications – complete checklist items and schedule approvals to meet project timing at red, yellow and green tag phases.

  • Flexible to travel locally to support OEM builds and runoffs, including temporary off-shift and weekend work availability as required.

  • Participate in simultaneous engineering, G-risk safety evaluations, layout and machine runoffs.

  • Plan installation timing with WSIO and plant teams and coordinate OEM installation supervision.

  • Lead machine qualification and final-acceptance activities to ensure Statement of Requirements (SOR) and Global Machinery & Equipment Specifications have been met.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 3+ Years Warehousing / Manufacturing Experience

  • Proven ability to design work operations that meet safety, quality, and efficiency requirements. Knowledge of Standardized Work (STDS), Assembly Line Balance (APS), Benchmark Calculator (BMC), Simulations, Man-Machine Charts, Indirect Labor Studies, Purchasing Planning & Financial Tracking, and Throughput Improvement Process (TIP)

  • High level of analytical ability

  • Bachelor’s Degree in industrial / Manufacturing engineering or a related area, or equivalent experience.

What Gives You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing Line optimizations, Project Management and Part Presentation

  • Experience Working on multiple products and processes while collaborating with cross functional teams across the organization.

  • Proficiency in AutoCad

  • Knowledgeable in PT-PM&C (production monitoring), data collection and analysis

  • Fanuc robot experience
