Quality Assurance Engineer I


Position Summary
The Quality Assurance Engineer will collaborate with agile Scrum/project teams to contribute to test automation and understand key business functionalities and complex technologies across the enterprise. This role will be responsible for contributing to the testing automation efforts for the team including activities such as following and maintaining functional automation testing activities including smoke and regression testing suites to ensure that all quality objectives are met with scalability and functioning to expected requirements.


They will assist in building, maintaining and designing a stable and efficient infrastructure to optimize service delivery across production, QA and Dev environments through the development lifecycle. They will monitor, troubleshoot, maintain and continuously improve building, packaging and deployment processes, implementing automated infrastructure capabilities. The Quality Assurance Engineer will have an opportunity to learn and advance their technical and quality competencies in a fast-paced collaborative working environment.
 

About The Team

The Remarketing Technology Team focuses on providing high quality solutions to the Remarketing Business Side of Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance. The team works with multiple technology stacks with most of the focus on .NET/C#, AWS, React, Next.JS, CSS, and HTML. The development team has both front end and back end developers; QA Professional; a Product Owner and a Business Analyst. The ideal candidate thrives in a team atmosphere that is collaborative and promotes business impact. This role requires someone who has a desire to increase their overall technical background and a has a willingness to solve complex as well as simple challenges with equal energy and excitement to provide the highest level of quality in every delivery.


Primary Responsibilities


• Advocate for Quality Assurance best practices and standards.
• Utilize a DevOps approach to improve all phases of the process and ensure end to end quality across functions.
• Assist with deployment/configuration management tools like Jenkins, Maven, Puppet, or Ansible.
• Collaborate with and utilize version control tools like GIT, Bitbucket, SVN, or CVS.
• Understanding of AWS and other services.
• Contribute to functional automation testing types and contribute to front end UI and high-level API testing calls.
• Maintain and execute comprehensive automation test cases from a variety of requirement sources and documents.
• Support and participate in detailed root cause analysis.
• Advocate for automation coverage and quality in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including customer issues.
• Collaborate with direct team members to understand and contribute to the key processes, technologies, business needs and requirements for supported business functions and share knowledge with other team members.
Primary Qualifications
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• 1+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance
• 1+ years’ hands on automation testing experience
• Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Computer Science or Information Technology, or 1-3 years of equivalent experience


Desired Skills


• Experience working with a test management tool such as Tricentis qTest, HPQC, Azure Dev/Ops etc. (qTest preferred)
• Exposure to multiple programming and scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, Pear, Ruby, Bash, PHP, Java, SQL, or C#
• Experience with Web-Services and API testing
• Strong SQL query skills
• Experienced in network infrastructure, database, cloud and data center operations and security protocols
• Comprehensive understanding of release management and CI/CD tools such as TeamCity, Jenkins, Octopus or similar tools
• Familiarity with domain-driven design, event driven architectures and microservices
• Experience testing and working with IBM applications (iSeries A400)
• Ability to read and maintain test automation scripts (Not just record and playback)
• High-level conceptual understanding of development principles and best practices.
• Experience using a work tracking system like Jira, TFS, Azure or a similar tool (Jira preferred)
• Desire to collaborate with developers and other engineers for deep dive technical learning and support
