Job Description:

Position Title: Mental Health Occupational Therapist
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
Hours per week: 38 Hours
Position Grade: Occupational Therapist, Level 1-2 , (Year 1-4)
Salary: $70,944.00 - $101,211.00 base salary per annum

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Mental Health Rehabilitation Service.

The community mental health rehabilitation team provides a voluntary, Trauma Informed, Recovery Orientated service. This Multidisciplinary team provides mental health, medical and psychosocial support based on individuals’ needs by specialised, goal focused support for people to move forward with their life and their recovery.

The team also provides a late onset of psychosis service (LOPS) providing support for people who are over 25 and experiencing their first episode of psychosis. This service involves providing comprehensive assessment, medical treatment, counselling and education for consumers and their families.

Assess, plan, organise, deliver, evaluate, and report on the provision of high quality Occupational Therapy in accordance with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia Code of Conduct, NSW Health and SVHN policies and clinical practices, to achieve Best practice patient health outcomes within specified timeframes.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Occupational Therapist who possess a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who:

  • Ensures provision of individualised assessment and rehabilitation interventions focusing on assisting in improvement in function and the building of consumer strengths.

  • Ensures that consumer and/or carers of the service participate in their own treatment and wellness plans.

  • Ensures provision of individual and group programs which maximize individual role functioning and independence based on identified needs of consumers of the rehab service

  • Ensure the application of all Quality Improvement principles within individual clinical practice as well as the overall service

  • Actively participates in the development and evaluation of rehabilitation services at an individual, group and broader service level.

Selection Criteria:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia

2. Registered with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist.
3. Unrestricted NSW Driver’s License
4. Demonstrated core competency skills in Mental Health in regards to functional assessments and interventions in people experiencing mental health difficulties.
5. Ability to work collaboratively with consumers within a recovery framework
6. Demonstrated experience working within a community mental health rehabilitation setting, whether that be for a government or non-government organisation
7. Experience working in collaboration with non-government organisations and community groups
8. Experience and commitment to working with clients experiencing complex needs, including homelessness, drug and alcohol use and forensic issues
