Job Description

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing Delta Township Assembly on a full-time basis.

The Role:

The 2nd/3rd Shift Third Party Coordinator will be responsible for VAA’s & 3P suppliers including transportation in daily operations supporting plant production. Work will be performed on 2nd or 3rd shifts under general supervision while exercising independent judgment and problem solving. Daily tasks often require part problem resolution tied to build issues, transportation issues, OPS, automated equipment, supplier concerns, manpower, and auditing to ensure no impact to production. Responsibilities require interaction with VAA’s, 3P, Ryder LOC, Ryder Transportation, Materials Floor and Office operations, Production, Facilities. A strong system functional skillset is required (or proven ability to learn new systems) with thorough knowledge of the following systems/programs: MGO, PPS, Excel and Web Based Apps.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Works with VAA’s & 3P suppliers to coordinate daily operations and problem solving through use of communications, planning, decision making

  • Works with Ryder Transportation to maintain flow of material from all VAA & 3P suppliers to plant to avoid any disruptions

  • Maintains detailed records of GM owned equipment needing repairs and follows up with Ryder personnel on daily basis on status of fleet

  • Supports 2nd / 3rd shift in dolly repair coordinating with Ryder LOC flow of dolly’s to and from the plant

  • Performs safety audits weekly/monthly on site at VAA & 3P.  Reports all safety incidents through daily communications and escalates to SL & 3PM when significant issues arise

  • Responds to all transportation incidents and property damage when occurs and makes sure equipment gets red tagged and pulled from fleet

  • Verification of people resources is adequate at all VAA & 3P suppliers for operations daily and reports concerns to SL and 3PM

  • Supports verification of transportation resources and performs audits to ensure VAA & 3P are properly staffed to support production operations

  • Reports VAA & 3P supplier part issues to Plant follow up team and follows through to resolved

  • Interfaces with VAA & 3P suppliers, LLP, and plant floor on material issues

  • Performs GMS audits at VAA & 3P suppliers and helps suppliers maintain compliance in SLT/BIQ

  • Responds to and resolves VAA & 3P Supplier floor problems such as: ​min/max conditions, material re-pack, material sort activities, sequencing issues, short ship parts, FIFO non-compliances, standard pack discrepancies, packaging compliance coordination with the packaging engineer/supplier, misuse, and carrier claims/quality sorts for purposes of inventory and accounting accuracy

  • Resolves supplier non-conformance

  • Issues SPPS for various issues and follows up on supplier responses

  • Responsible for performing annual MOPS audit at all VAA & 3P suppliers on off shifts with support of plant IT

  • Responsible for Fire & Safety audit annually with all VAA & 3P suppliers

  • Knowledge of automated equipment and trailers and ensures repairs, PM, inspections are completed in timely matter to not effect production

  • Grants access to Samsara tracking system on transportation to all new employees and trains on functionality of system

  • Communicates build issues and model mix changes to all VAA & 3P suppliers including broadcast changes

  • Supports launch activities and communicates build status and changes as needed to all VAA & 3P suppliers

  • Audit of non-conforming material and maintains part segregation at all VAA & 3P suppliers

  • Maintains all adhock transportation moves are in support of production and charges off costs to responsible party

  • Performs people resource audits at contracted VAA for compliance with contracts

  • Supports BPD board and attends meetings as scheduled and reports out on assigned metrics

Additional Job Description

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 2 years of manufacturing experience

  • Ability to understand and assess complex supply chain issues

  • Deep understanding of supply chain functions

  • Ability to be flexible and work a split shift between 2nd and 3rd shift

  • Ability to work overtime as needed

  • Ability to travel locally

  • Experience interfacing with internal departments (materials, quality, maintenance, and production)

  • Transportation background with conveyance experience

  • Ability to work independently and cross functionally with VAA & 3P and GM departments including Materials, Production, Maintenance, Quality

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • Knowledge of GMS

  • Materials background
