• Permanent Part Time 4 days per week, (32 hours per week)


About the Role
The grade 3 subacute speech pathologist will provide high quality services and clinical leadership within the Speech Pathology department across rehabilitation and GEM wards at Fitzroy and/or Kew campus.

This position involves clinical expertise in subacute speech pathology management of patients with communicative-communicative and swallowing disorders.
 

  • Assessment and management of patients in accordance with up-to-date knowledge of departmental clinical policies and currently accepted Speech Pathology Australia professional standards of practice
  • Ensure that speech pathology services provided are based on the latest available evidence
  • Provision of information counseling regarding communication, cognition and swallowing disorders to patients, carers and other staff as required
  • Communicate assessment and treatement outcomes to nursing, medical and other Allied Health staff via documentation and ward rounds



Classifications for this position will range from classification range VW6 - VW9 ($102,091- $116,646 pro rata per annum).

Your Contribution
 

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology), or Bachelor of Speech Pathology or equivalent
  • Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia and knowledge of Speech Pathology Australia position papers / Code of Ethics
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain
  • At least 7 years’ experience in adult Speech Pathology
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills incorporating excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, identify and build relationships with key stakeholders

The Speech Pathology Department is committed to providing high quality Speech Pathology services to patients with communication and swallowing disorders at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. The Speech Pathology team provides services across the continuum of care, over multiple campuses. The department is located across the two main campuses: St Vincent’s Hospital, Fitzroy and St George’s Health Service, Kew.
