ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE:
St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne (SVPHM) is a facility of St Vincent’s Health Australia under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries. We are a not for profit Catholic private hospital which operates across four sites at Fitzroy, East Melbourne, Kew and Werribee.


With approximately 2200 births a year, St Vincent’s Private Hospital’s maternity unit includes a 9 bed birth suite, 42 bed Antenatal/Postnatal ward and a Special Care Nursery that caters for neonates from 32 weeks which can also provide high flow oxygen therapy and Nasal CPAP.


Our 12 month midwifery program gives you the opportunity to explore Birth Suite, Antenatal/Postnatal ward and Special Care Nursery. For graduates completing a dual degree, there is the option of either a 3 month rotation to a medical/surgical ward or Special Care Nursery. For Post Graduate Diploma of Midwifery applicants, there is also the option of a 6 month accelerated program which provides you with experience in Birth Suite and the Antenatal/Postnatal ward.


ABOUT YOU:
This program is open to applicants

  • Who have completed a Bachelor of Midwifery, Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery or a Post Graduate Diploma of Midwifery Program or equivalent no earlier than 1st June 2024 for the February 2025 program or no earlier than 1st December 2024 for the August 2025 program
  • With less than 6 months working experience as a registered midwife in Australia or overseas
  • Who are eligible to gain registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA (www.ahpra.com.au) and will be available to commence the program on Monday 3rd February 2025 or Monday 4th August 2025

APPLICATION PROCESS
Step 1

  • All eligible Victorian residents must register details with the Post Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) Allocation & Placement Service (APS)

  • ALL of our midwifery programs are located under the MIDWIFERY LISTING on the APS
  • Applicants that are not eligible for APS (interstate, international and employed graduate diploma students) do not require registration with PMCV Allocation & Placement Service


Step 2 (ALL applicants)

  • Register and upload you application on this Workday portal via the "Apply" function

In order to submit your documents online, you may need to save them all into one file and upload in the CV/Cover letter section

  • Passport sized photo
  • A covering letter (please include your preference for February or August program)
  • A succinct CV (no more than 3 pages), INCLUDING the names, position and phone numbers of two Clinical referees from a midwifery placement of 2 weeks or longer
  • A copy of academic transcript with legend
  • Email address
  • International candidates are required to include a CERTIFIED COPY of their passport
  • Local students are required to include their PMCV number
  • No emailed applications will be accepted

Post Graduate Diploma of Midwifery –

  • Please submit copy of your INTERIM midwifery clinical appraisal tool

Bachelor of Midwifery –

  • Please submit TWO recent midwifery clinical appraisals from second or third year of two weeks or longer

Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Midwifery –

  • Please submit TWO recent midwifery clinical appraisals from third or fourth year and ONE acute ADULT medical/surgical nursing appraisal from third or fourth year of two weeks or longer.

Certification of Documents
Most universities now use electronic documentation such as Pebblepad, SONIA, eQuals for clinical placement assessment and academic transcripts. Online documents are kept securely by the university so these can be submitted without further certification. Please do not provide links, the documents must be uploaded in pdf format.


Universities that have documents that are handwritten must be certified prior to scanning and uploading
