Job Description

The Corporate & Internal Communications Manager at GM Egypt (&North Africa) plays an important role in leading the formation and execution of our corporate and internal communications strategies and initiatives. These will be in line with the organizations objectives to build and consolidate its reputation with key external stakeholders and the wider public, as well as keeping all internal stakeholders informed and nurture a positive and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Overview: Develop and implement corporate and internal communication strategies and initiatives that align with the organization's vision, mission, and goals, and that effectively communicate key messages to internal and external stakeholders.


Internal Communications

  • Develop and manage internal communications strategy and plan
  • Manage internal communications plan for the Chair and Managing Director of GM Egypt to ensure regular engagement and facetime for open dialogue opportunities.
  • Manage internal communication channels and tools, such as email shots, intranet, newsletters, and social media, to ensure that all internal stakeholders are informed and engaged.
  • Develop and distribute internal communications materials, ensure they are clear, concise, and engaging.
  • Secure a steady pipeline of content creating an archive for use across various channels
  • Collaborate with other departments in and outside Egypt to ensure consistency and alignment of messaging.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal communication strategies and initiatives and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promote open communication and transparency, and encourage staff members to provide feedback
  • Manage internal events, such as staff meetings and town halls, ensuring that they are well-planned, executed, and effective in communicating organizational messaging
  • Coordinate with GM Africa Middle East Communications team on all activities


External Communications

  • Build and maintain best in class relations with external stakeholders such as media and industry analysts, and influencers to engage them with our news
  • Develop and manage external communications strategy and plan
  • Generate and provide market fact sheets, hot topics guides for internal use messaging and briefing docs for spokespeople.
  • Develop, draft and distribute corporate communications materials, such as executive speeches, press releases effectively
  • Managing and supporting the Chair and Managing Director’s Linkedin plan and content  
  • Schedule, support and oversee execution of media interviews both on site and off site, as well as virtual for key GM Egypt Leadership
  • Support GM International and GM Africa Middle East Operations and GM Egypt Government Relations team on leadership and authoritative visits as required
  • Develop, plan, and oversee execution of media events, on site/off site, include but not limited to announcements, press conferences, facility tours, new product manufacturing plant visits, photo opportunities etc…
  • Lead and manage the communications for CSR activities, while coordinating with GM Africa Middle East’s CSR lead and HR to execute initiatives
  • Key point to ensure readiness and manage crisis communications as and when required, work closely with senior leadership to effectively communicate, and protect GM and GM Egypt reputation in any potential or actual crisis situation.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of corporate communication strategies and initiatives and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinate with GM Africa Middle East Communications team on all activities


Other Responsibilities:

  • Efficient planning and utilization of functional budget


Agency management:

  • Agency support to be available Ad-Hoc

Requirements – including experience, skills, education, etc.

  • The role requires at least 7 years’ experience working in a communications function, with a breadth of experience across internal and external communications.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism and multimedia, integrated marketing, public relations, or a related field. An advanced degree is valuable.
  • Agile individual with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders both in person and in virtual settings.
  • Proficiency in digital communications channels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear, concise, and engaging manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization, as well as externally.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing effective corporate and internal communication strategies and initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience managing crisis communication strategies and initiatives is preferred
  • Knowledge of product development and global automotive landscape preferred
  • Strong command of publishing, and supporting IT tools & software (MS Office or Similar)
