Job Description

Hybrid: This position requires an employee to be on site 3 times per week.

Direct Material Purchasing Supervisor

What you will do/Responsibilities:

As a supervisor, you will be responsible for lead and guide a team to execute the overall procurement activities, development of sourcing strategy, negotiation of contracts and execution of budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business plan

  • Lead business plan/tactics to reach targets on a day-to-day basis

  • Collaborate with Engineering, CCA and other internal partners to clarify prerequisites and to drive cost reduction

  • Analyze and apply appropriate tools, i.e. cost models, benchmarking, global competitive sourcing, value chain analysis, supplier negotiations, engineering change cost containment, technical cost reduction, part/system reuse, etc.

  • Handle supplier relationships and operational issues

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (Graduated) in Business Administration, Engineer, or related careers.

  • +3 years of experience in similar positions.

  • Microsoft Office: intermediate level.

  • English: advanced/fluent level.

  • Ability to work effectively cross functionally, both internally and externally and build relationships.

  • Experience with commodities (metals, stampings, castings, plastics, resins, paint, electronics, etc.).

  • Experience handling commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance.

  • Proven competence in negotiating skills.

  • Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.

  • Availability to make short-term trips within Brazil to other General Motors plants.

  • Availability to work in Sao Caetano Do Sul, Sao Paulo, Brazil, in a hybrid regime (3 times a week in person).

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA will be a plus.

  • Knowledge of Spanish language.

  • Knowledge of PowerBI.

  • Digital Transformation Skills.

  • Automotive industry experience.

  • Knowledge of procurement software.

  • Knowledge of materials management.

  • Capable of interpreting market data.

  • Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents.

  • Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes.
