Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Signalling Electrical Construction Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.

Key accountabilities: 

• Execute assignments in the office or the field in signal engineering work and associated railway construction activities.

• Carry out signalling circuit design, preparation of control tables, cost estimates and specifications.

• Conduct validation checking of safety critical signalling designs as directed and check the work of technical staff assigned to the same project in the office or the field

• Work under supervision. Duties are generally assigned orally as to methods and procedures to be followed.

• Comply with all Heath Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements and initiatives. Support the Senior Signalling/Electrical Engineer and the wider construction team in the execution of the ETCS L2 project.

Education and experience:

• Degree in signalling and/or electrical engineering or equivalent engineering qualification which is acceptable for corporate membership of engineers Australia.

• 5 + years in signalling and/or electrical engineering in a rail environment

• Demonstrated competency in implementing health & safety initiatives.

• Outstanding planning and organizational skills.

• Demonstrated experience working within a brownfield railway signalling environment.

• Knowledge of software tools and technical systems.
