Job Description

Work Arrangement
Onsite: This position will require you to work onsite full-time. The work location will be at our Global Technical Center in Warren, MI.

The Role

We are interested in talking to self-motivated, innovation minded candidates possessing the ability to work collaboratively in developing the high pressure die casting products and processes of the future.  As a Technical Specialist – High Pressure Die Casting, you will be challenged to define the technical direction and initiatives for high pressure die casting product designs and processes.  You will have responsibility for authoring, updating, communicating, and driving compliance to the high pressure die casting Bill of Process and Bill of Equipment for melting through secondary operations for die cast engine, transmission, drive unit, and structural castings. 

What You'll Do

  • Establish and lead the execution of the General Motors die casting technology development roadmap.
  • Participate in Program Management Teams, Product Development Teams, and plant process and execution teams as a technical expert in new die casting product designs and updates.
  • Provide technical guidance and technical mentoring to Designers, Design Release Engineers, and Process Engineers.
  • Coach and mentor the Casting organization to be an enabler for Product Engineering.
  • Facilitate and maintain lessons learned for die casting program launches.
  • Participate in solving production issues with the use of design analysis, simulation tools, statistical techniques, and customer feedback.
  • Participate in the Bill of Process deviation process to assure that processes are followed, and deviations have a sound business case.
  • Serve as a liaison with advanced engineering on new technical developments.
  • Lead teams in defining and standardizing analysis tools used for design and process development.
  • Keep up to date with advancements in process simulation technology, industry trends, and best practices through continuous learning and professional development.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 10+ Years Experience in casting industry
  • 5+ Years Experience in high pressure die casting
  • Possess a broad empirical knowledge of the factors affecting the design and manufacture of high pressure die castings.
  • Thorough knowledge and capability on all the steps required to bring a new casting from concept to production.
  • Awareness of state-of-the-art technologies influencing the future of die casting.
  • Familiarity with the use of computer analysis and simulation tools for casting design.
  • Experience in project planning.
  • Bachelor's in Engineering related discipline or equivalent experience.

 

What Will Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualification)

  • Experience in high pressure die casting of large structural components.
  • Experience in Magmasoft / Casting Simulation Software
  • Familiarity with Siemens NX software.
  • Red-X or Six Sigma Certiication
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering
