Job Description

Hybrid, reporting to a specific location where work needs to be performed / collaboration should happen (regardless this location is within a hub) and without regard to where a candidate lives (some employees may end up hybrid who live more than 50 miles away but where business needs dictate them to be onsite at a specific location three days per week).

  • This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Mountain View Technical Center or Warren Technical Center (WTC) three times per week, at minimum

About the Role:

The UX/UI Tech expert is responsible for developing strategies, looking ahead and growing the capacity for future success. They have ultimate responsibility for providing leadership and mentorship to their team, ensuring overall success.  User Experience or Interface Design is the process of defining the experience a user would go through when interacting with a product or service, making the experience usable, enjoyable and accessible.  Includes interacting with machines and software such as computers, mobile devices and other electronic devices, maximizing usability and the user experience.  Design decisions in UX design are driven by research, data analysis and test results rather than aesthetic preferences and opinions.  User Interface design focuses solely on the design of a computer interface, UX design encompasses all aspects of a user's perceived experience with the software, such as its usability, usefulness, desirability, brand perception and overall performance.

The UX/UI Designer is responsible for monitoring user experience and ensuring that software programs and products are easy to use. Their duties include reviewing user feedback to determine potential defects or areas for clarity, working closely with other stakeholders to refine user experience and performing usability tests on software products or features to ensure functionality.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify target user groups and carry out interviews or other types of inquiry to help understand user needs
  • Ensure the creation and implementation of customized experiences for the digital user
  • Produce high-quality solutions through flow diagrams, graphic designs, storyboards and site maps
  • Provide guidance on the implementation of UX research techniques and testing activities to assess user behavior
  • Maintain a competitive edge against competitor products and industry trends
  • Perform tests on user interface elements such as CTAs, layouts, target links, landing pages and banners
  • Understand product specifications and user psychology and predict what might work for both

Additional Job Description

Required Experience and Education:

  • Experience creating digital interfaces for web, mobile, in-vehicle interfaces, or other surfaces
  • Strong UX portfolio with work samples showcasing expertise in user experience design, iterative design, quality of craft, and depth of thought
  • Open to feedback, knows how give and receive criticism, and how and when to defend design decisions
  • 10+ years of experience designing, and delivering compelling and effective user experiences
  • 5+ years of experience managing teams that create user interfaces, digital products, or complex software applications across a range of channels
  • Bachelors degree in HCI, Product Design, IT, Business, Engineering, Communications or related discipline
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering successful digital experiences
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to articulate design decisions and rationale with clarity and objectivity; experience presenting to diverse audiences including senior leadership
  • Solid understanding of the user experience design process, SCRUM / Agile methodologies, and software development lifecycle

COMPENSATION: The median level of salary $172.900 to $264,800 compensation for this role is Annually
