What You Will Do

As a Senior R&D Test Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing tests to ensure quality and functionality of Stryker products or systems. You will perform hands-on experimentation with prototypes, create test methods and test fixtures, and lead design verification efforts for projects of various scales.

  • You will create, manage, and execute test plans for design verification of medical devices

  • You will strategize and oversee allocation of resources (personnel & equipment) for verification

  • You will review functional specifications and provide input

  • You will perform experimentation testing on new prototypes

  • You will research and design test methods and fixtures

  • You will review and interpret mechanical and electrical standards

  • You will collaborate with certification authorities to maintain product compliance and secure approvals for new product launches.

  • You will perform electrical safety and EMC testing

  • You will utilize statistics to define sample sizes and derive test conclusions

  • You will write test protocols, execute testing and write test reports

  • You will coordinate testing with in-house lab technicians and/or external resources

  • You will review and evaluate test reports from OEM vendors and suppliers for adoption

  • You will conduct tear down analyses on test failures in collaboration with Design Engineers

  • You will contribute to product design reviews

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical or other related Engineering discipline required

  • 2+ years of related experience required

What We Would Love That You Have (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills

  • History of consistently meeting and exceeding deadlines

  • Ability to write clear technical documentation

  • Skilled in collaborative work within cross-functional teams

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical principles

  • Experience working on electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Experience with common electrical and mechanical test methods and equipment

  • Test engineering experience with medical devices

  • Automation experience, particularly NI LabView, NI Test Stand, python, and/or Arduino

  • Experience managing resources and scheduling for large projects

  • Experience with clinical use cases within operating rooms

  • Proficient in standards such as IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, NFPA70, NFPA99
