About the Opportunity:

The Arts in Health Coordinator role leads the design and delivery of an arts program across both St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside and St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane. 

We are seeking a highly motivated Arts in Health Coordinator to lead the preparation, commissioning, and management of a sustainable program of arts activities for our organisation. This role will lead and facilitate engagement with patients and staff when developing programs, as well as manage relationships with external arts partners, ensuring they identify the unique role and modes of delivery in a hospital setting. This program provides patients, visitors and staff encounters with the arts that enhance their environment and supports their spiritual, emotional, and physical health and well-being, to compliment the mission and values of our hospital.

The position is accountable to the Executive Manager – Mission for the maintenance, expansion, and financial accountability of the arts in health program.

Things that work for us:

  • Ability to work on a Permanent Part Time basis this role is 20 hours per week with flexibility from Monday to Friday for the right candidate

  • A Bachelor of Arts (essential)

  • Previous experience within a health environment (desired)

  • Specialist knowledge of the application of contemporary visual arts, public and community arts, music and performing arts in the healthcare sector

  • Knowledge of the national arts context and the arts funding system

  • High level interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to promote effective communication with all stakeholders

  • The ability to personally model, articulate and integrate mission and values into the work environment

  • Experienced leader with budgetary and resource management experience

  • Demonstrated project management within established timeframes

  • Lead the development of an inspiring and meaningful arts in health strategy

  • Lead the preparation, commissioning and management of a sustainable program of arts activities, in line with the agreed strategy

  • Lead thoughtful curation, record-keeping and maintenance of the hospital art collections

  • Manage volunteers, in creative roles, providing direction, advice relating to the arts program

  • Representing the organisation within the arts health professional networks
