Job Description:

Position Title: Allied Health Assistant
Employment Type: Full time - Maximum Term
Hours per week: 38
Position Grade: Technical assistant Grade 1 - Grade 2
Salary: $58,691.80 - $62,086.53 base salary per annum

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Occupational therapy The allied health assistant works across the palliative care setting at SVH Darlinghurst campus. The allied health assistant is responsible for providing assistance and support to allied health staff in the delivery of allied health services to palliative care patients. The allied health assistant will work under the direct supervision of an allied health professional and will contribute to the effective functioning of the following allied health disciplines: Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Dietetics and Social Work. The incumbent of this position may provide; delegated patient care tasks, clinical support tasks and clinical administration tasks. The Allied health assistant acts in accordance with the Mission and Values of St Vincent’s.

We are seeking a skilled and energetic Allied Health Assistant who possess a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who are flexible and adaptable in their practices and work well in teams.

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
  • Cert IV in Allied health Assistance and current unrestricted NSW Class C Driver’s License
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required) as delegated by supervising Allied Health Professional.
  • Experience of independently managing an equipment loan pool.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and principles.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and email applications.
