Job Description:

Position Title: Senior Social Worker (Emergency Department)
Employment Type: Permanent Part time
Hours per week: 32 hours
Position Grade: Social Work Level 3 (Year 1/2)
Salary: 108,595.00 - 112,114.00 pro-rata base salary per annum

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Social Work (SW) Department. This role will be a Senior Social Work position in our highly regarded Emergency SW team which provides comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment and responses to patients their families and carers, presenting for the range of acute and crisis services we provide at St Vincent's Hospital Sydney. You will be working 64 hours a fortnight in a permanent part time position as part of a dedicated SW team on a rotating SW roster that includes weekends.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Social Worker who possess a passion for person centred care in a crisis setting. We welcome applications from people who are committed to high quality SW service while working closely with the inter-professional team. You are a highly collegial and collaborative SW who is keen to maximise psychosocial care and can provide high quality consultation, advocacy, clinical assessments and counselling.

Selection Criteria:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Bachelor of Social Work from a recognised tertiary provider or equivalent tertiary qualification with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with relevant social work experience in a tertiary health setting. 
3. Demonstrated expertise, skills and experience in critical illness, mental health, drug and alcohol, domestic violence, child protection, victims of crime, trauma, sudden and unexpected death and the coronial process.
4. Demonstrated competencies in crisis intervention, trauma counselling, short term solution focused intervention, grief and loss work, complex assessment, care and discharge planning in an acute health setting.
5. Demonstrated commitment to and experience in multidisciplinary team work in a complex environment with competing demands.
6. Demonstrated competencies and / or experience in the provision of clinical supervision of staff
7. Ability to lead and contribute to research projects, quality and education activities within social work services with high level oral, written communication and negotiation skills
8. Experience and participation in an extended hours service and/or on call service
