About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant will be required to support and develop this service, working as part of the multidisciplinary team caring for patients with Functional Gut (FG) concerns, aiming to provide a comprehensive, patient focused service for this patient group.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant will provide expert and complex care and advice to individuals with FG problems through the development and provision of guideline driven care for patients within the FG clinic, a designated telephone and email support line and the education and training of patient, nursing and medical staff in both inpatient and ambulatory settings.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant will act as an independent practitioner alongside other members of the multidisciplinary team, using advanced nursing skills to assess and coordinate plans of care for an identified group of patients with complex and ongoing medical conditions.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant will show a commitment to the development of the specialty area and be committed their own personal and professional development; with goals within the strategic direction of the organisation.

Classifications for this position will range from ZF4 ($107,962.40 per annum pro rata).

Your Contribution

  • Degree in general nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia

  • Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA

  • Postgraduate qualification in relevant specialty (desirable)

  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About Gastroenterology

The Gastroenterology Department provides a comprehensive range of consultative and diagnostic procedures in Gastroenterology with particular interest in chronic viral hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, therapeutic endoscopy and oesophageal disorders.

The SVH Functional Gut (FG) service is a secondary, tertiary and quaternary referral centre for Victoria and Tasmania providing comprehensive assessment and intervention to patients with a range of functional gut problems.
