About the Role

During the fellowship year, 6 months will be appointed at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and 6 months at St Vincent’s Hospital. This will leverage the independent and unique strengths in Perioperative Medicine at each of the hospitals.

This position expects enrolment in the ANZCA Chapter of Perioperative Medicine program.

At St Vincent’s, on average 1 day a week will be committed to perioperative and anaesthesia clinics, peri-operative U/S including transthoracic echo and multi-disciplinary meetings. The remainder of the fellow’s time will be spent in clinical anaesthesia including contributing to the after-hour’s workload, including regional anaesthesia, cardiac, thoracic anaesthesia, neuro-anaesthesia and airway/ENT. Fellows will be expected to contribute to our regular CME meetings and registrar teaching.
 

Classifications for this position will range from HM25 - HM30 ($125,900.84 - $173,290.00 per annum).

The duration of the appointment is February 2025 - February 2026.

  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain
  • Undertaking or recently completed Post Graduate specialist training in Anaesthesia with completion of the ANZCA Final Fellowship examination (or overseas equivalent)

About The Anaesthesia Department
The Department of Anaesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine provides anaesthetic and perioperative services including acute pain medicine for general and specialist surgical and interventional medical procedures to adults, performing over 16,000 procedure annually. The Department of Anaesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine is accredited by ANZCA as a training hospital with an excellent record of high quality teaching and examination success. There is a strong incentive for clinical research and the Department has many new research projects and publications per year along with a number of National and International presentations.
