Job Description:

About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a Telecommunications Technician to join our Digital & Technology (D&T) team to be responsible for maintaining telecommunications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data communications services.


The purpose of the Telecommunications Technician role is to maintain telecommunication systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment. Further, there is a requirement to maintain structured cabling with third-party cabling providers.

In conjunction with the Communications Manager, they will implement voice and data telecommunications services as set out in the D&T strategy.

There will be a requirement to be rostered on call and overtime due to the dynamic requirements of a 24/7 healthcare environment. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively triage and manage priority/business critical incidents

  • Support new/existing telephony services; connections, disconnections & relocations for both PABX & PSTN/NBN services 

  • Provide timely response to Service Desk tickets

  • Contribute to specification & design for Health Service redevelopments 

  • Ensure proactive stock control management for Telecommunications hardware, including handsets, cabling & associated products 

  • Auditing of Telecommunications equipment & services

  • Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.

To be successful in this role, you have excellent communication and troubleshooting skills, Self-directed and able to organise tasks and responsibilities on a day-to-day basis. Excellent communication skills and customer service focus. Willingness to support colleagues and team orientation.


Additionally, you will have:

•    Minimum 2+ years experience in a similar role;

•    Experience in administration of voice or data infrastructure;

•    Experience working in a healthcare environment would be beneficial.

Desirable


•    Knowledge and experience of Nurse Call & Messaging technology.
•    Experience of working within a structured IT service management framework.
•    Demonstrated ability to take initiative and generate ideas resulting in continuous improvement and innovation.

This position will be offered as a permanent role based in Sydney, working with staff across all divisions of St Vincents Health Australia, including Hospitals and Aged Care.
