SUMMAR

The Internal Communications, Diversity & Inclusion Lead will lead the development and implementation of strategic Communications initiatives that support internal business operations, cultivate a culture of inclusivity, and build Team Member morale. Lead day-to-day internal communications, including weekly news, announcements, events, and education sessions. This position will work with Store Operations and Supply Chain teams to cascade messaging across all parts of the business. Leads Diversity Council, Education Series, Communications and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). Additionally, the Lead role will lead the planning and execution of Company events, including culture and business meetings.

JOB DUTIES

  • Manage all internal communications including weekly SSC news, posters, events, etc. Manage onsite execution of all corporate events including quarterly meetings and holiday events. Support Director, Corporate Communications in executive messaging, thought leadership and speaking opportunities. Review all internal communication requests from partners within organization and determine proper channels for execution. Must be able to write in brand voice with excellent grammar and editing skills.
  • Manage Diversity & Inclusion initiatives including Grant program, volunteer opportunities, committee meetings and company education.
  • Support Manager, Corporate Communications in events execution, culture organization programs such as ONE JOANN; communicate progress and track results.
  • Oversee charitable giving and national corporate partnerships including St. Jude, Susan G Komen, Kids Mental Health Foundation, 4-H and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Organize community outreach including local Volunteer Days, onsite event coordination and materials supporting guidelines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees the Diversity Council and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) along with management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree required with a preference for Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism majors.

Experience Minimum: 4+ years of experience in a communication and/or diversity & inclusion focused role.

Experience Preferred: 6+ years of experience in a communication and/or diversity & inclusion focused role.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to travel 20% of time to stores, media hubs, grand openings and charitable events.
