Job Description:

Business Unit Transformers’ Supply Chain function is committed to further strengthen its drive in the area of supplier and material sustainability in order to contribute to Hitachi Energy’s sustainability vision.

In this role, you will drive the Business Unit (BU) Supply Chain Sustainability Strategy development and implementation working closely with the Transformers Business Unit SCM Management team and Business Unit Sustainability Head.

The SCM Sustainability strategy consists of three pillars: Supplier Sustainability, Material Sustainability and Material Compliance.

At the same time, the Global SCM Sustainability Manager will be taking the end-to-end responsibility of the supplier sustainability pillar (from process definition to implementation and monitoring/reporting for the whole Business Unit).

Your responsibilities

1) Business Unit Head of SCM Sustainability responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the Business Unit SCM Sustainability strategy and roadmap implementation in collaboration with the regional SCMs, the BU Sustainability Head and Hitachi Energy SCM

  • Define mid/long-term targets and lead annual target setting process within SCM

  • Bring clarity of the new sustainability requirements from customers/legislations to the SCM teams

  • Lead a team of 2 direct reports to create a consolidated SCM Sustainability Agenda

  • Drive the clarity of cross functional Roles-Responsibilities within the BU

  • Structure and organize the information related to the Sustainability activities and ensure the reporting mechanisms for each pillar in detailed and at executive level

  • Lead the sustainability communication within BU SCM community

  • Ensure all SCM Sustainability processes are defined within SCM Lead Operating Model (Standard process flows, Aligned RACI matrixes)

  • Organize sustainability related trainings on required tools and processes

2) Lead Supplier Sustainability Management Pillar:

  • Create the SCM Supplier sustainability processes roadmap for the BU

  • Create the BU level standardized processes for supplier sustainability legislations (GSCA, Canada Forced and Child Labor Act, etc) including clarification of Roles-Responsibilities

  • Coordinate timely implementation of SCM Sustainability processes in the regions

  • Develop related training materials for supplier sustainability assessments and deliver the trainings to the related regional SCM teams

  • Lead our supplier sustainability assessment/improvement program enabled by EcoVadis

  • In alignment with SCM management, drive definition and optimization of related KPIs

Your background

  • More than 10 years of experience in an equivalent industry

  • Previous leadership experience in strategy/roadmap creation in supply base management and/or in Sustainability functions

  • In depth and successful experience of implementing global sustainability program(s) in large, international organizations (preferably with focus on Supplier Sustainability e.g: German Supply Chain Act, Ecovadis implementation and/or leading similar programs)

  • In-depth understanding of supplier sustainability requirements such labor & human rights, sustainable procurement, environmental, safety and ethics

  • Good understanding and previous experience with the material sustainability initiatives such as Life Cycle Assessments, or green material introduction projects

  • Leader with strong communication and influencing skills in global organizations

  • Customer focus with ability to build effective working relationships and ability to inspire others

  • Knowledge of SAP Ariba, S/4Hana and Ecovadis is a plus

  • Fluent in English and strong presentation skills
