Summary: The Material Coordinator is responsible for maintaining consistent, uninterrupted material flow from the vendor to the Home Building Facility. The Material Coordinator is also responsible for releasing purchase orders and work orders, internal/external communication of inventory needs, communication with customers of material shortages, communication with vendor on quality concerns, and evaluating customer purchasing trends. The material Coordinator reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor of the Supply facility with a dotted line report to the Operational Excellence Manager.

A successful Material Coordinator should be able to support and optimize operations via integrity, professionalism, production capability, operational support, contract and process excellence, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily cycle counts and reconcile through the inventory adjustment process
  • Develop a world class material planning discipline to support ERP initiatives
  • Work and communicate collaboratively with the other disciplines within the facility
  • Determine required materials and validate purchase orders
  • Resolve material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and identify root-causes for inventory variance
  • Review vendor created backorders and develop corrective actions with suppliers
  • Implement and abide by corporate policies and procedures
  • Prepare reports and monitor inventory, material usage and efficiency
  • Create strategic solutions to improve material flow
  • Recommend product substitutions to Oakwood Operations Manager based on material shortages

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in material planning, supply-chain planning or building materials management
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning Systems. Oracle or Bistrack experience preferred
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Self-Starter
  • Experience and Commitment to Lean principles desired
  • Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, in person.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information with others
  • Forklift certification or willingness to acquire

Physical Demands

  • Work primarily involves sitting/standing, up to 4-hours at a time
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and clean MVR
